Forgive me. I don't know much about these things, as I've never had this happen before with any of the 31 Xbox game discs that I own. In the middle of playing earlier this afternoon, during a multiplayer session, the game said that the disc was unreadable. I popped it out, it's absolutely pristine. The console was no longer able to read it, though. So, I cleaned it with a soft cloth normally used to polishing glasses, restarted my console. Still no luck. In fact, the console started up more slowly with the game disc in the console. I put in disc two, it started right up and plays perfectly fine. I put in another game disc, no trouble loading or playing it whatsoever.

Is this tied to any known issues? I don't know if there's a reimbursement program, I've been looking at the warranty and trying to find my receipt. >_< I mean, the disc is absolutely perfect, there were no prior symptoms of any sort of problem.

Any insight would be tremendously appreciated.

I wish it would go, for me. Is there anything that you do when this happens?

I found my receipt, thankfully. But if it's going to do this to a perfectly fine disc, I'm not sure if replacing it will do much of anything.

Kind of upsetting.

I see you have ME3 for xbox 360 keep trying until it reads it then install the disc to your hard drive which I believe should help.

I keep trying, can't seem to get it to read in order to initiate an install. But I'll give that a try when it does. Thanks for the tip.

I take perfect care of my games, this makes no sense. :(

This is probably nothing, but do you store the disc in the ME3 Collectors steelbook? I do and I know how f-ing difficult they are to get out. So bad in fact I started to store them in a different case entirely.

But this could apply to all platforms and have nothing to do with the problem, idk. :P

I think i read something about corrupted avatar awards causing read issues with the Mass Effect 3 discs. I might be wrong but it should not hurt checking your hard drive for them and delete if they are corrupted.

I had this issue with Dragon Age 2. Turned out to be my hard drive going bad.

Try removing your Xbox hard drive and try the disc again a few times to see if it is actually the disc or your hard drive.

Mystery solved. It's my fault.

I knocked my console over today, it didn't even occur to me that it scratched the disc, because the game was playing at the time and continued to for several hours. I had to really strain to see it, but it's there.

So, I dunno what to do, now. But this isn't a technical problem. Looks like I'll be laying my console horizontally from now on.

Oh that sucks I had that happen to one of my other mass effects (I don't remember entirely which one) and had to have it replaced and that is why I NEVER have my xbox vertical.ALSO! if any of your friends have Mass Effect 3 tell them to let you borrow their disc with the same number with the scatch and install their disc to your hard drive and I believe it lets you play with the messed up disc because apparently the disc is just there for confirmation that you bought it.

Hopefully, I can find someone else with the Collector's Edition. I assume that I'd need that particular disc, anyway.

Alright, well I appreciate the help.

This happened to me. Do this:

1) Go into your system settings.
2) Go to storage. Select your harddrive.
3) View avatar data.
4) Delete anything that says "Corrupt Avatar Data"

Should fix it.
