Seriously, people get irritated too easily at the smallest things. Have "Violent" set on my rogue, well over 20 hrs into her and hear it maybe every half hour or so.

Next people will be complaining because footsteps are heard too frequently....

I have to agree, i get the shivers every time i hear it, hoping some mob will finish off her throat with the next swing of his weapon.

Haha, this whole time I have been playing I thought it was Alistar who was saying that line, and I have just been thinking he is an annoying dumba**. Oh well, it doesn't bug me too much, I hardly even pay attention to things they say in battle. Its not worth restarting for me.

Why does the PC even have those responses? Am i playing as the character or as the Maker?

Exactly my thoughts

I actually like that line, kinda fits the way I play my dwarven warrior who never wanted anything to do with all that Grey Wardening in the first place. Not like he had a choice though...

But then again I make it a habit to click through all the comments when picking a voice to see if it fits a character as the labels in most cases don't really help.

Then you are a lucky one, I heard it almost every time I had my character do something.  It gets annoying and it makes my character sound like a whiney ****.  I counted 6 times in a row at one point.

Yeah I've had to restart plenty of times because of lines that didn't suit my character. Would've been easier had they let you hear all the voice samples.

Sometimes I wonder what in the world BioWare was thinking with this "lack of info" they seem to have applied to everything in Dragon Age. I sure would have liked to known during character creation, that my guy would spew out the line "My Warden sense is tingling!!". Funny line; ruined persona; restart.

The experienced voice set is very good. Also, it sounds almost exactly like Deadwood actor Ian McShane.

Seriously go with experienced or wise, but if you want to use the voice sets from the other races you can use the toolset to alter the voice... You can even make you character sound like Morrigan if you wanted(although if you're playing a male character, having them speak with Morrigan's voice would be really weird).

Oh you.

You guys have nothing to complain about.

You should hear the german voiceovers for the player character.

They are all done by the same 16-year-old guy who tries too hard to alter his voice to fit the theme.

It's comical at best, I tell you.

This is just poor. Very poor.

Are there any "voicepacks" for DAO yet? That was my absolute favorite feature of BG... the ability to just pop in my "Clint Eastwood" soundpaks ... (the TICK was my next favorite)

There was a great line for "threaten" in the Clint pack... "you're gonna look awfully silly with that knife sticking out of your ____..."

If you mean Arnold Schwarzenegger, he's not german, he's austrian.

And I know what I talk about, I'm playing the german version here.

And borders on insulting that King Cailan has the voice of a fifteen year old.
I mean, I'm dead serious.

I've created 5 characters, and only one of them has a voice with which I am unhappy (the first one I created).

Really, all you have to do is come up with a character concept in advance and then listen to as much of the 6 available voices as is available during character creation and pick the one that fits. Just choosing violent without listening to it first is foolish.

I created a female City Elf Rogue whom I thought would suit the cocky style, but during character creation there was one thing the cocky voice said that just didn't suit my character, so I went with Experienced instead and I'm more than happy with it.

Sadly enough, Arnold is from AustriaPosted Image....but I lived in Germany for a couple years and loved it. So yes the Germans are a great people, even with the Arnold.

I'm using cocky at the moment, doesn't sound really cocky at all... Which is nice!

I'm still waiting for a voicepack for "Manic Psychotic" from NWN. Best voice, EVAR.

Arnold is Austrian yes forgot that, but aren't Austrians and Swiss of German descent? (Could be wrong here..)

And technically Cailan has to have a a somewhat younger voice since he's young, maybe in his early 20's

I'm positive that some Austrians wouldn't be shy to get violent if you told them that. ;)
But well, yes, Germans and Austrian understand each other in terms of language.

With the Swiss it's another deal entirely. They speak a german-sounding language, but also French and Italian, all in the same small country.

Both Austria and Switzerland have large ethnically Germanic populations, but both have many other population groups, too. Austria is what remains of the historical Austro-Hungarian empire and has a long history as a multiethnic state. German is the majority language, but there are a lot of Croatians, Hungarians, etc. in Austria as well.

Switzerland is a very diverse country with a mix of French, Italian, Romansch and German-speaking communities. German is the largest language group of the four but in almost half the country, German is not commonly spoken. Most German spoke in Switzerland is a Swiss dialect and is distinct from 'proper' German.

I love this voice set *EXCEPT* for the ladderspam. And oh boy do I ever get the ladderspam. My character has interrupted herself while saying it to begin saying it again, and then interrupted THAT interruption to begin saying it a THIRD time.

"Can I get you a ladder so you can get Can I get you a ladder so Can I get you a ladder so you can get off my back?"

aaaaargh. I'd love to know how to modify sound packs so I could remove that one little part, since I can even handle "Alright, alright!" and I really love the other comments. It honestly wouldn't even be a problem if it played rarely, instead of being the most-used-phrase in the blasted bunch.

Maybe I'll just try to figure out how to import NWN sound packs. I like the "Blood makes the grass grow!" sound pack from there...
