I agree, but at least there was a buildup (weak though). Synthesis has no lead-in whatsoever. Husks? Those have been completely repugnant and undesirable from day one. All that husks have ever indicated was a terrible penalty for losing in battle--demoralization.
Every instance of people getting along was doing that while maintaining individuality. For example: The Krogan poet/Asari couple; Joker/EDI; Turians/Krogans/Salarians (including the Salarian and Krogan joke); Geth and organics, primarily Quarians. Legion's conversations where he looks all sheepish trying to explain the N7 armor are pure gold. These are all examples of people getting along in spite of their differences (or occasionally going to war), but those conflicts and/or resolutions are what make the Mass Effect world interesting.
The synthesis ending forces peace and implies homogenization as well. Do human husks and the other Reaper husks have striking differences? Maybe Marauder Shields, but other than that, it's boring. The Borg are fantastic enemies, but would anyone watch a show solely about the Borg? I would not. You could argue the evolution of synthetic-organic hybrids isn't that convergent, but it seems inevitable that different species will evolve to become more like each other when they all have the same machine DNA. If the bad guys win, fine, let the next galactic cycle try and figure it out (thanks Liara) because we failed and our survivors were turned into Reapers, but don't make the whole galaxy boring.
Liara's time capsule, Shepard's nightmares, loss of friends and life in general...these all led up to the Reapers possibly, even probably winning, and I don't think anyone has a problem with that possibility.
Additional notes:
Destroying the mass relays also contributes to that problem of disconnect, but there is at least hope that they can be rebuilt. They apparently didn't explode as much as the one in Arrival.
Mordin's own speech about "limitations" demonstrates why there is nothing beautiful about the synthetic ending.
