Sending death threats to the devs: Way too far.

Filing a complaint to the US Federal Trade Commission: Way too far.

People take a video game's conclusion too seriously. :P

They need to chill out and re-acess a few things if they're that worked up over a damn game. lol

I don't agree with stuff like death threats but while i'm not personally doing it I enjoy watching bioware get bashed. They lied about the game (Casey Hudson anyway) and I don't feel sorry for them at all.

This kind of sums up how I feel.

I don't feel bad about Bioware being called out for the things they did wrong and being bashed for it.  I think that the OP is taking this way too much to heart, and misunderstanding a lot of things.

The worst part is "it's just a game".  It's not "just a game" to us.  We spent hours and hours of our lives loving this game and enjoying this game like we would appreciate a piece of incredible art or a fantastic movie.  The thing is, we've been following this story for years and have become connected to this universe and it's characters.  What Bioware did with the ending is downright insulting to us, and is blatantly breaking promises for the sake of 'making art' or 'making an ending people will "talk" about'.  This is garbage.

Bashing on the internet for the most part is taken with a grain of salt.  If you take these seriously (within reason, being called out, being openly insulted and harassed or even threatened is never cool under any circumstance), then you clearly have not been online for a very long time.

For the most part it seems like you care more about Bioware (the company) than you do about its fans.  If so, that's your perrogative, but if I said I understand how you feel, I would be lying.

I wouldn't so easily brush off a Video Games importance to some people. Everyone has interests in life, and many people feel passionate about them... Whether It's going fishing, spending time with friends, family, etc. To some people, Video Games are the joy and highlight of their life, so to see something they love so much not recieve it's justice in their opinion, it can cause people to react harshly. What a simple video game is to one person, Is something very important to another.. Some people are really into cars, and some see them as simple utilitarian, not everyone views something with the same passion.

the whole "its a video game, chill out" thing is such a cop out. you dont see us off exploring the oceans, and i highly doubt im going to go into space anytime soon. so apart from working and trying to b a better animator and my social life, games are a big part of my life. an yes, i have a social life. i dont watch tv.

my point is, its important to us. just because it isnt important to some of the folks at Bioware, or yourselves, doesnt mean we have to stop caring too

While I've been following these forums for years, I have never really had the desire or motivation to post a response until now; even if my opinion of the ending is indeed congruent with many of the grievances that have been repeatedly cited by those within the 'Retake" movement. It just didn't seem necessary to add yet another voice to what I see as an already strong and civil (for the most part, IMO) group of individuals who seem truly passionate about what they are fighting for.

However, after reading through this thread I feel obligated to, at the very least, defend the position of those who have donated to Child's Play. I feel I have a very personal stake in this, as my young cousin (he's 11) was diagnosed with ALL, or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, nearly 14 months ago and has since undergone countless inpatient hospital visits and radiation treatments just to maintain a perpetual state of weakness and depression. Seeing a child endure things like this is both heartbreaking and humbling, as it has helped me to put certain "problems" I encounter into a realistic perspective. I had never heard of the Child's Play charity before this, and likely never would have were it not for the motives of an apparently "selfish" individual whose only goal was to have the end of a video game changed, if you believe that logic anyway.

Just wanted to make this clear, I for one, and I suspect many others (there are nearly 4000 contributors) DO care about the people we are donating to. Finally, I would like to thank each and every person who donated their hard earned money to the charity, regardless of your overall motivations, because at the end of the day I know it is going to a cause that is SO MUCH BIGGER than the "Retake Mass Effect" movement. I feel the generosity is inspiring, but perhaps I'm too biased by the circumstances I find myself in. Even if you believe that the individuals contributing to the charity are being disingenuous, or you feel that its only purpose is to bring "publicity" to the dissension, please do not underestimate the good that will result from it as a whole.

Thank you again, it certainly means a great deal to me.

To be honest, after seeing some evidence that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters DID shut out the rest of the writing team with regards to writing the ending... I'm not inclined to to give them the benefit of the doubt. Nor will I buy any game that involves either of them in a major way.

Exactly... I work, get home tired and stressed and i like to release it all and immerse myself in another world because quite frankly, the real world sucks. Video Games are my outlet in life, and are ofcourse important to me, so seeing about one of my favorite series getting it's justice is worth my time. Hanging out with friends and all is great, but most of them are busy so games are pretty much it for me.

Educate yourself on the topic. It was a missunderstanding, the guy even apologized for it. Of course OP wouldn't mention that because it contradicts him.

Cop out or reality, some see it for what it really is and then there's you.Games are a big part of your life, you don't say? I wouldn't imagine someone with a life fighting so hard for a video game ending to be rewritten if they did. not watching tv doesn't mean you have a social life either, sorry, cyber friends don't count, I know they may feel like friends but its a virtual facade.

don't get mad, it is what it is.

Hate reading comments like "this community has been fantastic" and "yay we retook mass effect".

I didn't like the ending at all.  I didn't like the auto-dialogue.  I didn't like the multiplayer maps ruining the sidequests and i didn't like the new gay characters taking up more screen time than Ashley.

But I have never come on here and reduced Bioware staff to the point where they are visibly upset and refusing to come on the forums.  I have never tried to insist it is right for Bioware to give money to charity (which i'm sure they do).  I have never sworn at people who are just doing a job.

The crazy thing is, ME3 is a great game.  And you so called "fans" enjoyed 99.9% of 3 whole games.  It's just a video game, there are more important things in life.  What you've done to Jessica Merizan is wrong and you cannot call yourself a great community.  You are nothing more than trolls and spoilt gamers.  It's disgusting some of what you people have said to people who are bending over backwards to appease you and who in the end owe you absolutely nothing.  Get over it.

It is kind of ironic to come onto a videogame forum and lecture other people about how they need to get a life. DO you know the term "self righteous" means?

That's preposterous, putting death threats aside, why filling a complaint to the "X" agency should be "way too far".

Everything is acceptable if:

- You've the right to do it (and you certainly have the right to fill wathever complaint you wish to whatever agency is in charge of examining it).

- It is done within the rules laid down by the society and in a civil manner.

Judging what is or what's not "too far" besides these two aforementioned requirements and telling people to "chill out" is beyond every single one of us. Not that I would've ever filled a complaint, it's just a matter of principle.

Complaining about complaints is unproductive.

End of line.
