I'd say a decent chunk of the people that hate the ending had the same response the first time they beat the game. More WTF? than "that's a terrible ending".

And then they sit there and think about it, and the whole thing starts to unravel.

He liked it because of his role playing. He was anti synthethic from Mass Effect 1, so the red ending matched perfectly.
But he will soon recognize all the plot holes..

To be fair, I wasn't pissed off before I found out that all three ending are exactly the same.

 I recal loving the ending kind of.. but then I sort of sat in front of my TV for like 15 minutes in a bit of shock.
