That's because he has a "no death rule". If he dies, he will delete the save!

I will never understand why anyone would do that. I play games to have fun. Not make myself rage lol.

He takes his role-playing very seriously. He has specific rulesets for his characters' behavior and he doesn't pause or restart death because it breaks reality.

To each his own i guess. What breaks reality for me is the ending of the game. That broke the ruleset of my character since I wasn't able to choose an option that she would have (and had been) making in the entire Mass Effect series.

I can't wait to see this guys reaction when he finds out the chracter he spent so long on will have to break cannon to choose some silly color choice. I wish him the best coping with it since he takes it so seriosuly. I dont; even take it this serious like him and I was pretty upset betraying my femshep.
