I like playing aggressively as an adept so I always carry a light shotgun like the disciple or the eviscerator. Once I disable some enemies with singularity or stasis I get up close and personal to finish them off with a headshot or melee.

I have the black widow X and only carry that for my weapon. My recharge is +125, I believe. I think its a good balance for me, I recharge pretty quickly and headshot, headshot, HEADSHOT !

The Vindicator with max barrel and scope for long range. The maxed out Paladin with barrel and piercing mod for up close and personal. Then I spam shockwave and warp with Liara's singularity at %100 cooldown. Biotic explosions kill everything. lol!

I only use the Paladin, its the very definition of a hand cannon. Slap on an extended barrel and magazine upgrade and its amazingly useful against hard targets like mechs, brutes, and banshees.

i believe i am currently using the paladin, locust, and viper as my weapons on a 2nd playthrough, my power recharge is somewhere around 150%. not quite the 200 people love to boast about, but i have a sniper rifle, and the weight/dmg on that one is pretty boss.

Haven't played as a Adept, but try using a light assault rifle like a Avenger or a Vindicator and a pistol (I reccomend the Carnifex or Phalanx.)

I tried a lot of different loadouts on my Adept, in the end I always went back to the Avenger. Its a great all around weapon. I load it up with stability and extended barrel mods. Having carnage as a bonus power is a plus too. Though most enemies die to sing/stasis/warp detonations.

I have just started a new playthrough with an adept, and so far I am loving my coice of snper rifle and pisol. Yes it only gives me +150% recharge bonus, but its enough.

You can play aggressively with an adepts with powers allow.

Great replies, thanks. I never realized that the cooldown at 200% is faster than the animations. This gives a bit of leeway in weapons.
Also seems everyone has different ways to loadout and play the adept. Very cool.
My build is weak... this import had shockwave (what was I thinking?) so I have sing/warp/throw and those grenades. Plus I took Defense Matrix as a bonus, so I gimped myself - hence the need for some solid firepower.

To be honest, the impression I get from Adepts is that they're far less dependant on bonus powers than they were in ME2, so you're not really gimping yourself just by going for one bonus power over the other. I don't even have one at the moment, I'm waiting for Warp Ammo to unlock.

Being able to set up biotic explosions on a defended target is the key to how strong the Adept has gotten in ME3. So long as you can do that repeatedly, any further cooldown is a matter of preference. So go crazy if you want to play a weapon-wielding Adept - from what I can tell, -20% cooldown penalty is the cutoff point - up until that you can spam biotics pretty well so long as you've maxed your skill ranks in cooldown and taken the right gear/upgrades.

I used the paladin with a scope and damage.  I only rarely fired it.  I also had the hurricane but I don't think I ever used it.  It was all about biotic combos.

With warp and throw you don't need fire power.  Hit them with warp and combo it with throw.  This works wonderfully even on shielded opponents.   Also if you don't like your build you can retrain your points in the med bay on the Normandy.

with all my respect, Adepts are glorified easy mode for ME3. i did insanity with loaded soldier from ME2, it was tedious and sometimes very very hard. I did NG+ with same char, but changed class to adept with Gibbed save editor. Jesus Christ, some fun and relaxing playtime i have now. Infamous academy fight anyone? 2 loads, unlucky turrets i didnt notice. TWO LOADS, i've spent an hour on my soldier there. I use 3 powers, and i think how much more easy it can become if i skill Stasis for bonus, it would be just too easy. I dont even need versatile companions now so i run with James and anyone i find appealing for the moment.

oh, and ye, paladin, with damage and armor piercing. It is exceptionally precise so i dont use scope, and armor piercing 6 upgrade is really really heavy on the enemies. Headshots are just great, its like a widow with zero weight. i also carry some smg, i didnt use it once yet Oo

My adept has the avenger x, carnifax VII, and some SMG i never use; 200% cool down. But honestly, I don't know how much the increased cooldown really brings to the table since my recharge times down seem to change much.

I use the disciple with smart choke and high caliber barrel and a paladin with the expanded thermal clip capacity and high caliber barrel. That way I have the pistol for long range, and the shot gun for close range. With the smart choke on the shotgun they both serve well at mid range. I use energy drain for my bonus power to get the shield boost from enemy shields. I use it more to buff myself than to actually strip shields. It is a build that can deal with anything easily. I mostly only ever use warp, singularity, and throw though. The occasional tech bust from energy drain followed by throw is good too though.
