I just wanted to start a thread thanking everyone at Bioware for three of the best games ever made. All of them were groundbreaking pieces of art, and they all -especially ME3- had me emotionally invested in a way that I rarely am with any form of entertainment.
I really wanted it to be clear that half the reason the endings were so universally reviled was because everything else was so frakking amazing. You guys made playable, living and breathing art, and you made it so amazingly well that people are crusading for the fates of their favourite characters and the universe they occupy. I mean seriously Bioware people, think about that for a second, you made us care so much that we can't forgive you for short-changing us (and everyone in the ME universe) on the endings. The 99.9% was so good that the unacceptable tenth of a percent absolutely ruins the rest; people who used to do back to back play throughs are now unable to touch Mass Effect of any number, so ruined is the ME universe in their minds. Please see that not as a wall of negativity coming at you, but as the positive validation of all your efforts all these years making this incredible universe for us to experience.
To sum up: you guys are awesome, and you have my eternal love for these beautiful games. That said, you are literally too awesome, because you made us care so much that you will earn the eternal spite of many if the endings stay as is. That said, should you fix the endings the situation is reversed and you gain a huge number of die-hard and steadfastly loyal fans overnight.
Anyways, I just wanted to try and put a positive slant on things for anyone at Bioware who might happen to read this. We love the games you made for us so much that we feel we need to defend them, and I hope you realize that making something that has that effect on people is something you should be very proud of.
Bioware appreciation thread! (you're still not off the endings hook though :P )
