I'm not sure if this has been addressed already so I apologize in advance.
I had this thought earlier today: On Thessia, the Prothean VI explains how history is cyclical; that there are events that happen in every cycle that are similar or the same, but under different circumstances and that the Reapers are not the masters of that cycle. Cerberus indoctrinated and synthetics vs organics are examples given. The thought I had was, given that no one has any data about the Reapers themselves or about where they came from or who made them or how life was before the Reapers we can infer that the information about time repeating was about each cycle before the Prothean cycle, but not before the first cycle when reapers were first created. So the question I had was, are the Reapers really not the masters? The purpose of the Reapers we now know is to "save" organic life by preserving them in Reaper form and prevent the eradication of organics by synthetics. But on Virmire, Sovereign said:
"Your civilization is based on the technology of the mass relays. Our technology. By using it, your society develops along the paths we desire."
Taking that statement, is it not possible that all of the events that repeat themselves are due to the Reaper's influence on the development of organics and not an inevitability as The Catalyst would like us to believe?
