Bioware has crafted a marvelous fictional universe with Mass
Effect. Fully packed with rich and deep characters, species, planets and so
much more. So much time and effort has gone into shaping this amazing universe
that I think Bioware owes it to themselves to preserve their own work. It is an
incredible achievement to have fleshed out and built up the individual histories
for each unique species, and than incorporate these in depth facts into the
games. This is an accomplishment which truly stands out from other science fiction
media. In Star Wars A New Hope, the cantina scene is crowded with all sorts of
funny looking creatures, but there is never any explanation of who they are,
what they do, where they come from, or what they even are called! (Aside from
the quick little bit dialogue that Kenobi gives) But in Mass Effect, when my Shepard
steps foot on the Citadel, I instantly recognize all the different peoples I am
looking at. I know their traits, their habits, their origins, so on and so
forth. And not just the main species either, I'm talking about Hanar, Elcor,
Volus, Drell and the rest of them! Not to mention the different worlds and
their individual qualities. From the bustling cosmopolitan streets of Illium,
to the charred and dusty remains of Tachunka, each world is special and has a
place in every fans heart.

To have created such an elaborate universe, where there is
so much more room for additional tales and adventures, it would be such a gargantuan
waste to annihilate it in the end. That and an insult to those who put in all
the amazing creativity into making Mass Effect what it is. My point is that in
the upcoming DLC concerning the ending, I think it is best to not cripple the
galaxy by destroying the Mass Relays. If I remember right, in the first Mass
Effect novel, nobody truly understands how the Mass Relays work or how they
were built. To get rid of them would be foolish. It would distance and alienate
the species of the Galaxy once again, isolating each culture from what was once
a galactic community.

So what I'm trying to say is keep Mass Effect alive. And
besides, from a business standpoint Bioware could make a lot more money that
way. I mean think about what would have happened if at the end Return of the
Jedi, Lucas killed off his creation and ended any future for the expanded
universe? All those books, toys, TV shows, comics would never come to be, and
without those Lucas would not be the billionaire he is today.
