Shepard is an L5 in Mass Effect 3. Which means Shep is probably an extremely potent biotic for a human. As for Samara and Jack, Jack was genetically enhanced to be attuned to biotics, and Samara has had hundreds of years to perfect her biotics. As for Human biotics go, Shepard is likely a very powerful one.

Well, my untrained soldier can use at least one biotic skill fairly well, so I'd say Shepard is pretty strong compared to a lot of others.

This. I laughed hysterically when I saw that.

That pissed me off. One more way Bioware was lazy and rushed the game.

As curious as I've been to play a biotic Shepard...I just can't come up with a way to justify having biotic powers without implants or something. Is it ever explained how Shep can have them without any of what you listed?

Again, I have never played a biotic, so I don't know the histroy of Shep as a biotic vs a regular soldier.

All human biotics need to be fitted with implants in order to use their powers effectively.

Not to mention he never busts out his biotics when he's falling from great heights or anything lol

Obviously asari are stronger biotics than humans.
And Jack has had all sorts of junk done to her.

Kaidan is an L2, who can spike higher than most L3's, with the exception of Shep, meaning that Shep is a very powerful L3

But then again thats only if Shep is a biotic at all

I think Cerberus upgraded him to an L5 when they resurrected him.  I might be wrong though.

She was just trying to give Jack a moment to play the badass. Adept Shepard is nothing if not polite and acomodating.

Where does it say that Shep is an L3? Is that mentioned somewhere in one of the 3 campaigns if you choose biotic?

When talking to Kaidan in ME1, he says that his powers spike higher than most L3's, with the exception of the Commander, implying that Shep has an L3 implant.

Considering that I actively try to avoid Kaidan until I blow him up, I probably missed this regardless of whether or not its mentioned in other playthroughs :P

There is a scene with Chakwas early on, which states that the L3 implants, while safer, are less powerful than L2s in general, but that Shepard's L3s seem to be an exception.

And also implying that Shepard spikes higher then he does. And then Shepard gets L5 implants in ME2. So as far as I am concerned he is stronger then any other human we are aware of other then Jack. Miranda's Biotics are not really quantified, so I'm not sure what the comparison is there.

Mechanically? Shep is the best biotic. I don't think asari are all inherently more powerful biotics than everyone else, just that they have the most members who are biotics (100%).

Lore wise, not sure. Since there's barely any dialogue at all that acknowledges Shep's class, it's a tough call. I think an adept Shepard would have been capable of the barrier in the collector base, but as the team leader is more valuable to have free to fight rather than to sustain the barrier.

Personally, I'd put adept Shepard close to Jack, at least, and stronger than any other biotic members of the crew.

Well, Vanguards and Adepts have a version of L5, Not clear for Sentinels yet, IIRC; and here's a wiki: Biotic Implants

No you're all wrong. He just hated that mouthy little weasel and he wanted Cerberus to kill her. But then Jack ruins it.

Does she mention this if I'm a soldier? I honestly may have just breezed past this, and like I said, I ignoe Kaidan until I leave him to die :P

It always bugged me that the story and dialogue almost completely ignores Shepard's class.

Like in the Ardat-Yakshi monastery when Samara goes flying/floating off to chase her daughter I kept yelling at the screen, "FOLLOW HER! YOU CAN DO THAT TOO. F***ING FOLLOW HER!"

omg dude this is exactly how i felt with the citadel Kai Leng situation. When he was running away i was just waiting to do some biotic something...and then when i saw him jump on the car i thought my character would biotically pull the whole car down...dreams ruined.

No, it is one of the (very) few biotic-only scenes in any of the games.

This. I always play as the soldier class. Whenever I start up a Biotic class playthrough I don't make it far without missing all of my guns and armor [Because I would start at ME1 and take my shep through all of the games]

You would be correct.
Adepts and Vanguards have L5x or L5n implants

Is it stated anywhere specifically that Turians do not produce biotic users? I don't think we've seen a biotic turian at all in the course of the series.

Although apparently they got lazy with the cutscenes and used generic ones not dependent on your class.

Shepard is probably a little more powerful than Miranda and co, but less powerful than Jack or Samara. I don't think he'd of been capable of holding the barrier in the collector base.

s/he got upgraded to L5s in me2 after being rebuilt.

I'd say s/he's pretty powerful; I play as a Sentinel and Shepard can defeat a brute on Insanity with two biotic explosions.

In the codex it is said that very few turians have biotic powers but they are not usually trusted and they are usually assigned in teams with each other.

if you bring kaidan along for the monestary mission biotic shep has some lulzy banter with him about samara being able to fly but them not being able to
