 I cant understand why they would add a final "real leader" of the Reapers in the last game. Their was no hint to it even existing. The fact that adding the Star Child at the last minute shows that the reapers are nothing but minions. One would have thought the leader was Harbinger seeing as he was the only reaper that talked and you never actually fight him, but his lack of content and this out of the blue leader seems out of place. 

It would have made the Reapers more menacing if we didnt know their motives.The fact that they had a leader shows that the reapers (or whatever the kid was) could be reasoned with and thus not menacing anymore. Why add him to the last game with no hint to him in any other game. His appearance only made plot holes and the typical "I know all because because, your just wont get it regardless of what I tell you" character which is far more cliche then a happy ending.
