Hello,

I am very disappointed to find out that the Collectors Edition copy of ME3 I purchased is not being supported for ongoing multiplayer events like the past Operation Goliath event. After trying to contact Bioware's customer service through both the "Bioware game support" and "Email us" links on the bottom of these forum pages, both of which link to EA's customer service page, I asked 3 different reps for info on how I could contact Bioware customer service. All 3 told me to post on the Bioware forums. All I wanted to do was email a human being and have my issue heard, not post on a public forum for the public to "debate" my issue. But after waiting the 24 hour holding period, I can finally post my issue so here goes:

I purchased the collectors edition purposefully because I wanted the complete experience. Day 1 DLC, fine, I got that covered. In game sweater? I'm there. I'm in for the long haul, I'm excited to support a company I have been more than happy to support for over a decade.

Finding out that the XBOX360 and PC versions of the game are being supported with community events that I as a PS3 owner cannot participate in is really frustrating. I am being left out. One of the consoles that you have released your game onto is not being included in community events. I am certain that you already understand that this is not okay.

As a customer, I am angry because to me I have a copy of the same experience that everyone who purchased a copy of Mass Effect 3 received. It should not be the burden of the consumer to understand that the PS3 has a "technical limitation" that prevents inclusion into these community events. To me as the consumer, my PS3 does in its own way the same thing that the other systems do, and that there is no reason why as a PS3 user I should be expected to accept that I have a now inferior, incomplete version of the Mass Effect 3 experience because I am not playing it on 360 or PC.

I have a hard time entertaining the thought that Bioware did not know that PS3 would not be included in these multiplayer events prior to the game's initial release. Even understanding that the choice to purchase the game on another system would be weighed heavily against leaving my ME2 PS3 save data behind, that is a choice that I as a consumer should have been given to make. Now I am simply left feeling like my Mass Effect 3 multiplayer experience isn't what it could be because I happen to be playing the game on a PS3.

I want to enjoy the game, but this exclusion really drains the replay value when other systems are getting new content that I can't earn due to a choice I didn't get to make for myself.

The argument can be made that the game I purchased was a finished version and that any and all DLC and additional content created after release is at the sole discretion of Bioware, and you could have simply never made any additional DLC. The fact that I purchased the Collector's Edition does not automatically mean that Bioware owes me more content. That isn't my point. My point is that I bought what I and every other PS3 user thought was simply the PS3 version of the same Mass Effect 3 experience everyone else was purchasing, and that simply was not the case.

Can a Bioware representitive address this issue for us and say difinitively whether or not this issue is being fixed, or if PS3 will never be included in these events? What exactly is the problem, when was this problem made aware to Bioware, and what is your solution for PS3 owners?

I can even understand that to you as the developers the PS3, 360 and PC are 100% different beasts and that this issue bothers you guys the same way it bothers me, but I genuinely feel like I've been lied to by Bioware. I have the same game. I should get the same community support from Bioware.

I fully agree OP. It is not so much the fact that PS3 players are excluded, but the fact that EA Bioware neglected to mention these things beforehand. Take the statement by EA Bioware that you would see no difference between the PS3 and 360 versions of the game. That turned out to be a load of bull. The bottom line is that EA Bioware makes decisions like this based on how it affects profit, not how it affects player experience. It stinks and it is not okay. Maybe this behaviour will change if enough people complain about it.

Also we can't use the codes if we decide to buy a ME3 figure or art book. The codes only work for pc and xbox. So does that mean we can never get the collector assault rifle or whatever else comes with these purchases? Why leave PS3 totally out of mp events and codes for unlockables? Of course they are not gonna tell you before hand that the PS3 experience of ME3 will be lacking. That might keep your money out of their pocket. That's why you don't find out till after you paid for it. Unbelievable.

You're not alone OP. Sorry you had to resort to the forum when all you wanted was to talk to someone on their side. Unfortunately, a lot of us feel the same way. I've posted on a few of these posts that I feel are pretty important. Operation:Goliath was a very unprofessional way to go with how they left out the PS3 users, discrimination. I know it seems like a harsh word, but it is true. I've said it was wrong to even release the event unless all platforms were included. Who am I to judge? Just another customer.

This is just one of the issues with the PS3 at the moment. The only type of response we've gotten so far has been from Chris Priestly.

http://social.biowar...6/index/9948203

He mentions there is a process of how this works and obviously trying to show this takes time. After that we've been left in the dark since. That was 8 days ago.

There are issues with bugged quests and a huge ordeal with freezing/black screen. Also frame rate too.

We're all waiting, and even though some have "seemed" impatient, for a game that is unplayable by some I'm surprised it's this quiet in the PS3 forum. Much quieter than the other forums with players that can attend events and play the game "freeze" free.

Hang in there buddy.

At the VERY LEAST they should be either fixing it or issuing partial refunds for PSN users. I understand that sales were underwhelming, but that doesn't mean you and I didn't pay for ours. 90% does not equal 100% any day of any week, and we paid 100% for 90% of the experience.

^Or just give us the pack...since you know the challenge was done. Not like they paid for them..and the fact that they reached the goal means if OUR scores counted too we would have still killed the billion brutes

Is there an actual way to contact Bioware support? This is like writing my issue in chalk on the sidewalk and hoping a Bioware customer service member walks past. EA refused to help me and sent me here. Since I haven't been able to direct my issue to anyone specific, I'm just shouting. Bioware's links to "email us" and "Bioware game support" all link to EA customer service.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, both by forum members with guiding information, or from Bioware customer service responding to my issue as EA had informed me this is the best way to contact them.

I think the reason that its so quite on this part of the forum is that most people have just given up. I mean its pretty demoralising to read this part of the forum and to see barely any responses from anyone remotely related to bioware.

I notice that the Devs avoid the PS3 boards like the plague... Dragon Age was just as bad for being ignored. you can always try to PM one of the Bioware staff to voice your concerns? They might not answer, but at least in bothering them they know there is an issue.

Exactly. We paid for this game with the belief that it would run the same as the 360 version. That was a lie. They're not giving us any kind of compensation, for buying this crap. 90% experience? No, more like 65%. the graphics and framerate are so much cleaner on the 360 version. The differences are insane. It's not fair. If they knew this version was going to be subpar, they should've dropped the price.

After some searching on the forums, I found that someone sent Chris Priestly a message asking when they would talk about this issue. Chris responded with:

"No we're not. This is a technical issue with Sony and I am not allowed to address it further. Sorry."

So I sent an inquiry to Sony. Here's what I got back:

Thank you for contacting Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA). My name is Jace and I can definitely assist you.

As much as we would like to address all of your questions, there are certain topics that are simply out of the scope of this department within Sony Computer Entertainment America, LLC (SCEA). You have reached the Consumer Services Department within SCEA, and we handle all general inquiries for our PlayStation® family of products, warranty and repair information, installation and troubleshooting, general corporate business inquiries, and third party software referrals, just to name a few.

Very specific questions on any particular product (e.g., manufacturing process), programming details of software or hardware, 'reasons or beliefs' on why a product did or did not include certain features, personal opinions, and personal contact information for developers, publishers, and other company employees, are some of the topics that cannot be addressed. Also, there are certain topics that we may not be able to address due to the fact that they are confidential and proprietary to SCEA.

Unfortunately we are not the manufacture of Mass Effect 3 and as much as Bioware and EA say you need to speak with us this is not true. We have no information to provide you regarding the limitations of the PlayStation®3 version of the game if any. I hope you understand my position in this. I apologize you feel you may be getting the run around but I assure you you will need to speak with Electronic Arts and Bioware on the functionality of the game they produced and manufactured.

I sincerely apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for the opportunity to assist you. Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,
(Name removed)

So now I personally have confirmed that EA says go to Bioware, Bioware says it's Sony's fault, and Sony says EA and Bioware are responsible. How can NO ONE be accountable for this?

To Bioware, when you read this topic, firstly, THANK YOU for reading it. It has been very frustrating to be told how to contact Bioware and then simply not be heard, so thank you. This is turning into stonewalling, and you have to know that this issue will not just go away. PS3 users are not getting the full Mass Effect 3 experience. They have an inferior product. No one informed them of such at or before point of sale. We have purchased faulty product. This needs to be addressed.

If u actually read it, it says that rep has no acces to the higher technical reasons and just gave the usual line we cant do it so blame the other guy.

So im pretty sure the fault is still with sony.

If it was on sonys part then BioFail would have stated so but they left us in the dark on this matter so whos to say.
IMHO i feel its BioFails fault on this.

I did not buy ME3 from Sony...I can't say I even remotely care about who's to blame.

I did not see a nice warning anywhere that would say "This product may run like s**t on your console, and our Tech Support will gladly ignore all of your issues. We'll still charge you full price for it though."

End of the day it's ME3 that I can't install on HDD and therefore I'm stuck with annoying "reading disc" noise for 95% of the game. That's down to EA not PSN to address.
It's also ME3 that's crashing when you try to load certain level on the Citadel, again EA should be addressing that, and not PSN / Sony.

We are already aware of this issue, but thank you for sharing your thoughts. We know it may seem unfair to you, but we do not intentionally want to exclude any of our gamers from our events. This does not somehow resolve or make easier to fix the technical issues involved in this matter. We have said before that we are looking into the matter and hopefully will be able to open up our events to ALL platforms in the future.

Thank you for responding. After reading my experiences trying to contact any form of customer service from EA, Bioware, and Sony, you can imagine how thankful I am that somebody listened.

I can only assume from your response that clarification is something you cannot provide. Any insight into the progress, the actual issue, and the likelyhood that it can be fixed would be a godsend to the PS3 forums. There are a lot of players here who would appreciate some frank talk about the situation and why we had to find out that we would be excluded from the events from the announcement of the event itself as opposed to before point of sale.

In case all you guys missed it, we will NOT be partaking in Operation Raptor this upcoming weekend, at least not at this time. (they say they'll have an update for us later this week. Not holding my breath)

That's just plain mean Bioware; Make us miss the first operation, your fault or Sony's, I don't care, let us join in on last weekend's operation, and now we miss the next one.
