I don't understand why everybody is constantly begging for increased difficulty. Don't you care about realism at all? I understand you might want more of a challenge but don't you think it's pretty stupid if you have to unload 5 full clips into 1 enemy? Especailly a weak enemy like a Cerberus/Geth Trooper or a Cannibal? In real life war a soldier doesn't have to unload 20 clips just to take down 1 enemy so why would you want something as ridiculous as that in your game? It may be "too easy" but I'll take realism any day. I already can't enjoy silver or gold because it's to unrealistic. If anything I would want them to add more enemies & more bosses but not make it more difficult. I prefer realism over difficulty.

Well.. science fiction is probably not where one wants to head towards if one is looking for realism. We don't have Kinetic barriers..thermal clips.. aliens.. biotic powers.. in real life war.. What's not to say their 'barriers' got upgraded in gold+ diffculties.. or.. the manufactures of the armor industry had a breakthrough in armor plating sturdiness... lol..

Once again I am not asking for anything to be changed.. to Bronze/Silver/Gold. They can stay the way they are for all I care. What I want to discuss is new content + new difficulties..

The game hasn't even been out for a month and already it "needs" DLC? If this keeps up I might actually start feeling sorry for developers.

If you're bored with it already maybe you just shouldn't play any more? Or maybe take a break until some DLC actually does come out...

Thank you! I mean they said april they are gonna start some dlc. How is that not soon enough? I mean most games drop dlc 3-5 months away not 1 month.

I care about realism in "war sims" like Battlefield... in ME3, where I shoot fire out of some omnipotent tool on my hand, and somehow discharge electricity and powers that resemble "the force," I dont think realism applies.

If it did, have you ever thought about why cerberus/geth/reapers would send that many troops (and big ones at that, Shep never faces more than 3 banshees at a time IIRC) after a 4 man squad? Or why they'd keep sending "key enemy personnel" right at them? And how does one become a high ranking mindless Cannibal? That's showing initiative. ME has never been realistic, it's been an expansion of realism.

I digress. I think I want Mercs more than Collectors now that I think about it. I had more fun fighting Bloodpack and Blue Suns than I did the collector bugs. Plus, all models already in-game, no story explanation really needed (and easy to imagine for those who do need it). Fighting Bloodpack Krogans with the same melee capabilities as we have as Krogan, or Eclipse Vanguards would be great. Eclipse Salarians would be like Geth Hunters, Bloodpack Krogan like melee Marauders, blue suns humans as ground troops or engineers, etc

I would also like to see a random enemy game mode. By this, I mean a game option where you pick everything as usual, but every wave is a random enemy type. Cerberus on wave one, geth on wave 2, etc at random. And an infinite wave mode would be fun imo

You know what I mean when I say "realism". Right now everybody is complaining about the SMG's because they're completely useless. They're not realistic, they don't do any damage to the enemies.  A difficulty beyond gold would mean ALL the guns are as useless as the SMG's.

New difficulties would mean Harvesters, Colossus & dark maps where you need flashlights. That would be awesome. I would love to see harvesters in multiplayer, don't understand why they're not in there already. But you know to a video game developer "more difficulty" will automatically translate into making the enemies harder to kill & making your guns even more useless. This has been the problem with video games all along. I can't even count all the times I wanted the higher difficulty levels to mean they added more enemies to fight, but instead they just made my weapons weaker which was no fun & totally unrealistic.  But yeah, I would love to see more enemies & new enemies but just don't make my guns any more useless than they already are.

Harvesters are not in MP due to their size and the lack of them doing anything except being a bullet sponge.

Realism? uhhh well...yeah....right.

I got it! "Cerebrus started using a modified barrier shield technology which blablabla blabla makes them bad ass"
" Cerebrus has infused their troops with special blablabla which lets them blablabla own even more"
"The Geth were sick of losing, and stole cerebrus their new barrier technology so now they blabla nuts"

That fixes your realism problem right there.

Realism is the difference between everybody complaining about the SMG's & everybody not complaining about the SMG's.  As of now the SMG's & a lot of other weapons are so unrealistically weak that nobody uses them & everybody is complaning about them.  A higher dilfficulty would mean the enemies are next to impossible to kill & that would just be stupid & unrealistic.  Don't you think it would be unreaslistic for them to send in a team of 4 guys with weak ass shields & weapons that have no affect on the enemy?  Sci-fi or not, do you think the alliance is that stupid? Right now on gold the guns are about as useless as blowing spitballs, now you want it to be even harder than that???  Why? That would be just plain idiotic! How do you enjoy something like that?

New Challenge : All team members run to check points throughout a level to que up a targeting laser on a reaper. Meanwhile facing off indoctrinated Geth/Reaper Forces.

Also I think it would be great if completing missions yielded certain rewards of their own. Like armor upgrades for holding a Prefab factory. Or EZO for holding the refinery. EZO then gets used for... all of multiplayer getting Quicker shuttle pick up at the end of a level.

Would also love to have a few levels to run straffing via shuttle craft with other players. "Take down X targets while going through this canyon so Alliance forces can get a foot hold in the region". And for missions like this I'm talking locations on -Earth-.

Anyone else want to see some Mako action? two tanks... 1 driver, 1 gunner each... lets roll through some reaper forces!

Or how about some multi-part levels that have combinations of all of this stuff? It would really make multiplayer a heck of a lot more interesting. I know... its putting a lot on completing objectives and just mindlessly blasting spawning of X faction...  but it is still something.

And because they're low on resources, instead of bullets, now the alliance arms their troops with walnuts & sling shots. And when a Banshee shows up you can blow snot at her & it will only take 5 or 6 hours to defeat her. Because everybody knows Banshees hate snot!

Harder Difficulty doesn't mean the enemy necessarily has to be harder to kill. If they do more damage and if their count is upped from like 20 or 30 per wave to 50 per wave...

Guns can be effective until you run out of ammo. Harder difficulty less ammo available. Harder doesn't always mean that the enemy has to  be godly when it comes to damage.  War of attrition. Who can last the longest without suffering the greatest losses.

Amount of punishment the enemies can take is not the only index of realism. Compare it with amount of punishment you can take on bronze and on gold. See? Are 2 or 3 shotgun shots realistic enough? Are 2-3 seconds of standing in fire enough? Or should they make geth hunters and pyros one-shot anyone but the krogan? Surviving a rocket in the face? Not anymore! Talking about realism is totally pointless, game is supposed to be playable.

Makes using cover in multiplayer a viable solution to survive.  Though I've never been fond of the "you here and no matter where you go the AI always knows how to find you" or in short SAD (Search and Destroy) AI.

If we're talking realism then thats already gone.

Primarily in response to:

Yigrave, Steelgrave, BaeBunni.. but also to anyone else who is against additional content..

What is wrong with DLC? Or additional difficulty levels? Why does it have to be 3-6 months later when nobody gives a sht... I mean seriously... you expect people to be playing 'horde' mode for 6 months?

I don't get people who complain about how additional difficulty levels and DLC will ruin the game or make it less fun..

I would first like to address the issue of difficulty levels.. and to do that I would like to use starcraft 2 as an example. Although the fundamentals of the games are different, the competitive nature of the game is what relates to this in my opinon. The game started off with bronze/silver/gold/platinum league... as the game progressed and the general population of SC2 got better (1/2 months after release) they introduced a diamond league. Why? because the people at the top were bored...

Did introducing a higher level for the more 'elite' make the game any less fun for lower levels?
No.. In fact it probably made it more enjoyable for everyone. Lower 'levels/ranks' got to stay where they are and play with players at similar levels. While the more experienced players moved on to harder things.

Introducing higher level difficulties does not mean you have to play platinum/diamond. I'm not saying force a N7 15 into a platinum game.

You can stay at bronze/silver/gold till you get bored of those levels. Nobody is going to force you to play platinum/diamond. If you prefer being able to one shot enemies with your sniper rifle.. then by all means stay at bronze. I'm sure you can get a lot of fun out of that.. if that kind of 'realism' is what you are seeking for in a game.

Download Content... the same thing applies here. So what if they released Day 1 DLC.. or day 2.. or week 1.. week 5.. WHO CARES.. Nobody forces you to buy these things. If you don't want to buy it then don't. This thread is more of a DLC & MP wish list. If you have more unrelated things to discuss then please just start another thread and we can discuss it thoroughly there.

I don't think constantly raising the difficulty for everyone is a good idea. Not everyone is uberleet and can solo gold afterall. All I can see is this putting off current players as well as new players who are now confused as to why bronze and silver are now so hard - especially when compared to the campaign in sp that they just beat on insanity and then say eff this and quit.

I'd like to see passive upgrades of some sort. These could be added as "armor attachments" or "modules" witth a limit as to how many you can equip at one time. Perhaps each character would have 2-4 slots for such attachments/modules.

ie; Weapon Damage +5%, Shield Recharge Rate +10%, etc

Thoughts?

Something new would be good. Maybe a new difficulty only for when people start getting higher level weapons and such, on top of some new objectives/bad guys. As far as gold being to easy though, if they nerfed biotic explosion spam it probably wouldn't be as easy. As far as soloing gold, it's only possible with certain classes, and takes a large amount of time due to what one has to do to be able to solo it.

Not quite sure I follow isn't that the same thing as what we have now? Armor Mods..? Can you clarify?

It is a Coop PVE game.. Stop talking about nerfing... There is nothing wrong with adepts... and bio explosions. Sure they have an advantage against reapers.. and only on certain maps. Firebase White in particular. You throw a 4 man team of adepts against Geth you will not be getting the same results as a 4 man squad of infiltrator or engineers..

If anything talk about buffing weak characters.. There are reasons why nobody want to play certain races.. and If you would like to discuss that.. this is not the thread for it... Now moving along... back to great MP ideas..

Of course!

Equipment is temporary- you use it once, and it's gone.

An armor module would more or less be a rare, "permanent" piece of equipment.
That being said, it's effects could be stacked with temporary equipment bonuses as well.

For example:
Soldier A equips a Weapon DMG +3% module. Every match he would have that boost until he removed the module. That's on top of whatever damage he's getting from his class and amps, etc.

This would encourage builds for different weapon types, etc; players could also possibly work around nerfs to an extent with it, with the nerf still having -some- penalties, for example:

A player uses "Assault Rifle A" frequently. It shoots fast and the DoT is great. He simply adds Weapon DMG upgrades to improve his performance.

However, a patch is released that slows down the weapon. It's simply not as good anymore. He loves this gun, though! The player removes his DMG modules for RoF improvement. It might not be as strong, but it's shooting close to the old speed.

That probably wasn't the greatest example, but there you go. xD Of course, these would also work for shield improvements, biotics, etc.
