It's always amazing to see how foreknowledge really is no preparation for how terrible it actually is.

Sorry you guys had to go through that.

Agreed. My second oldest nephew has been seeing headlines of people being upset with the ending, but after I decided (after days of debating in my head) I tried to show him. He resisted knowing anything about the ending, like I resisted some of my co-workers when they tried to talk to me about it. I had seen some headlines, but wanted to see if for myself.

He is still wants to see it for himself with no forwarning. The terrible thing is his data was lost in transfer on xbox, so he WANTS to start from ME1.  He put his data loss and not being about to play like this, "It's like someone stabbed me through the heart with a hollow, poison pointed spear, and then pushed a grenade through the hollow into my chest."

I could only think to myself when he said that, he has no idea. It kills me.

I'm sorry your story and your fiance's had to be added to our own.

It's amazing that me and my friends actually experienced physical discomfort after the ending.
On a brighter note, this just prove how good the rest of the game is.

I am similar experience with my friends. It's one thing to experience it yourself, but it's worse to see others to go through it.

I know what you're thinking, "why oh why didn't I take the BLUE pill?"  err... blue explosion?

It's just not fair damnit! The 1% at the end controls 99% of the trilogy's resources. And it hates us. Oh wait.. where have I heard this before? lol, BW, you sneaky bastards, you guys pulling a 1% joke?

So true. Give credit to BW for a great Galaxy, just hope they change or modify or clarify or something to the end to not ruin it.

OP, I was the same way as your fiance.  I just couldn't understand why ME3 was getting a 2 star rating on Amazon. heard the buzz about the bad ending, but not wanting to spoil it, just naively continued with my business figuring "How bad could this be? Its Mass Effect!"

/shakes head

I was on another board and someone was talking about finishing ME3 with his sister, it was the first game she had really gotten into. She has lymphoma, way to go bioware. You depressed someone with cancer.

I really think Hitler's reaction video sums up 95% of the people who finished the game. Even when some of us were warned, the ending's idea of closure still left us with massive disappointment and emptiness.

I also felt physical discomfort after finishing the game. No other bad ending to a book, TV series, movie, or video game has done that to me. To think a game can make me so emotionally invested...

To quote a comment I saw on youtube, "You know you're wrong when your fans start agreeing with Hitler."

That's my 'go to' vid when I need a cynical laugh at all this. I still laugh. My favorite line is how I feel is from there.

"The entire APPEAL of these games was snuffed in 10...minutes."

What was the first thing she said when she finished?

She sat in silence, while staring at the "Buy Moar Stuff" prompt.

Yeah, at that moment, I really thought I'd been trolled pretty good.  This was followed by pure bewilderment and assuming I'd screwed it all up, wondered how far back I'd have to reload my saves to get to the real ending, and wound up here.  Holding the line.

Its all good. She said she's going to buy Halo Anniversary and we're going to play co-op. To take our minds off of it.

The Hitler rants video's are usually over the top and shows the attitude of the most extreme nerd raging fan. I think this the first time that the rant video actually shares the majorities sentiment.

Yep, when Hitler is not pleased you know you screwed up.

Im sorry you two had to go through that. Many of us can sympathize.

I was looking forward to getting others into the Mass Effect Universe but now... What if they fell in love with it like I did. I don't think I could put them through that and have their hearts broken like mine. Im not cruel.

Condolences.

The not finishing the ending we were promised and expecting is just uncalled for.

One of my best friends called me up on the phone today. Guy hasnt really played any games since college, except for mass effect. He has a week off after finishing a big project at work, and he's buying an xbox so he can play all 3 games back to back. tried to say something, and he responded 'shut up! This is going to be the greatest game ever and Im NOT going to let you ruin it for me" He even hung up on me to avoid spoilers. Its like watching a train wreck

Seeing a lot of ME3 memes. I am suprised no one has done a DXHR meme of Jensen saying, "I never asked for this" in relation to ME3 ending.

Good for you, none of my friends played the game, so they dont understand why I was so depressed after the ending.
