YES!

HALLELUJAH!!!

THE MAGIC CODE.

ITS THE MAGIC CODE!!!

Thank you so much vekkth and Jereee!

It works!

If anyone else did EVERYTHING they were supposed to do but didn't know that breaking up with Miranda the first time you see her will kill her this code works to save her.

Thank you.

again, you have to meet her all 3 times on Citadel, 2 in person 1 via specter terminal. If you doubt this (and miss the first meeting) you will end up with save editor lurking for plot bool ids for that first meeting, as i did :)

save editor? where?

Google "Gibbed Mass Effect 3 Save Editor" :)

@IKingJeremy hey mate, i know how you feel. Glad this helped you, i stopped playing the game myself until i could make her survive, was really attached to her :)

I spent around 5 hours spread in 4-5 days to make this work, and i hope this info might help someone who got cought desperately as i did :) More on that later. Also check the bottom of the post for some PlotID bool values to use with Gibbed save editor for those who are desperate.

Here are the things you have to do to make her live in the end of Horizon Sanctuary mission:

  •  Make her fully loyal in ME2. edit It is reported that you do not have to make her fully loyal, but you must complete her loyality mission.
  •  Make her survive Suicidal Mission (obviously).
  •  If you romanced her at any point, do not break up with her. edit It is reported that you can break up with her in ME2, just not in ME3. It is also rumored that you can break up with her in the hotel room (meeting 3) but you cant do that during first meeting - this will kill her definitely.
  •  Meet her at the Docs in the Citadel BEFORE Cerebrus attack on the Citadel. Talk to her nicely and ask how you might help.
  •  Read Kai Leng dossier on your (or Shadow Brokers, not sure wich) terminal after you encounter him before talking to MIranda again. edit reported as unnecessary.
  •  Talk to Miranda through Spectre terminal on Citadel, and warn her about Kai Leng (make sure she responds with "I will make myself ready" or something)
  •  Meet her on the Citadel later, and when asked for Alliance resources for some operation, give them to her.
  •  At the end of the Horizon, use Paragon/Renegade option while talking to her father.
This should keep her alive. If you miss any of the above mentioned, she dies. I did miss the first meeting at the Docs, and was stuck with her dead. So i did some research for my situation and while helping some people. Here are some Plot IDs you might find helping.

1. First meeting in the Citadel with positive outcome (ask her about her situation and promise to help).

20182 True
20183 True
20741 True
22698 True

2. Second meeting via Specters terminal - we do not have the data yet, so if you do, please share.
3. Third meeting in person on the Citadel - give her the resources she asks

21872 True
21873 False

4. Miranda BreakUp: finally, thanks to Jereee, we have PlotIDs for breaking up with her in ME3.
If you did break up and you have changed your mind and want to keep Miranda alive, set

21751 False

Hope this helps :) Mad props to @gibbed for his tool and @rsanchezsaez for a working hack i used to export and compare plot bool variables, BossBast1 and Jereee for providing me saves at turning points.

Miranda lives so Im glad. I wonder though how that will affect le romance with Ashley though. If I never broke up with Miranda, and she thinks were still together I hope that doesen't affect my relationship with Ashley.

I've had issues getting this to work:

I compare a before and after of the Spectre meeting (2nd meeting with Miranda), and applied those changes to my save right before going in the elevator, but she still dies. I'm a FemShep, so she hasn't been romanced, I have her loyalty in ME2, and I met her the first time and read the dossier (missed the second and third meeting). I don't have a save to compare the third meeting.

2. Second meeting via Specters terminal - we do not have the data yet, so if you do, please share.
set to True. When I did the comparison I found the following changes from False to True.
20184
21085
22700

And also Int:
10491: 3 -> 1 (this number is 2 in my save before the tower).

However, when I apply these changes and the others, she still dies. The only values that are different than expected are 21872 True is 21872 False in my playthrough.

Is there something missing from meeting 3? I even tried starting from before the mission, but it didn't change the outcome.

Did you try changing 21872 and 21873? I believe these flags tell if you gave th resources or not.

Also, did anyone found the flags for the second meeting? I believe I forgot to warn about Kai Leng, but I dont know how to check it.

Yep, sorry I wasn't more clear. I applied all the flags from the OP post (including 21872 and 21873 that you mentioned), including the one's that I found for the 2nd meeting. However, as that didn't work, I'm not convinced my hex editing skills were up to snuff :'(  Quick question, I found variable 22856(?) or something change at the end of the bool variable array in addition to the variables I mentioned above (it also switched my weapon and power preferences) (and seriously, bitmasks? - I guess it saves space, but still ... :P) which goes beyond the maximum size of the variables in the array. Does anyone know what this memory contains or if that is important?

When I checked the variables before changing them, the only one that didn't already agree with the OP post was 21872.

I know I made the first meeting on the Citadel, read the dossier.

I know I didn't make the 2nd meeting or the 3rd meeting.

I didn't even know that Miranda can die. I just made her loyalty mission and was good to her all the time. Had good reputation and she survived in ME3.

I didn't follow any complicated steps... just did what seemed the obivious way forward and she survived. It's not like it's a super incredible feat to save her.

my entire crew from me2 are loyal, got her resources, info on kai leng, i even rushed through the level thinking it may have something to do with time, or even watching the consoles.
But to my disappointment still nothing....

Although she survived in my playthrough...I think the scene is hell of alot better if she dies.

I don't know if you were aware, but the conditions to save her are well known. This thread is about what flags are represented in the savefile as a result of those steps.

Did you romance her in ME2 then break up with her in ME3?

Got it. Overlooked some small stuff before I took off to Horizon. Since I'm a sucker like noone's buisness and would do whatever it takes to get my people safe through my missions and that war, I refused to live with a dead Miranda.

Alot of stuff didn't work, and it took me a hour or two to get it done. Had to learn about the me3 savegame editor the hard way, also about the possibility to edit decisions, how to do that and what numbers belonged where.

To make it short, the following combination worked at least for me:

-> Gibbed's ME3 Save Editor -> Raw -> Plot -> Bool Variables -> list -> Scroll through the numbers and switch the valua accordingly

20182 True
20183 True
20741 True
22698 True
20184 True
21085 True
22700 True
21872 True
21873 False

If you broke up with her somewhere:

21751 False

Make up for it, you heartless monster.
(Never had that problem, my femshep didn't romance dirt.)
And last, but not least:

-> Gibbed's ME3 Save Editor -> Plot -> Int -> search for 10491 -> set to 1 -> click set

10491: 3 -> 1

Save as a NEW save, don't overwrite.

SHOULD be working now.

I figured that out using those two post's.

First, vekkth:
Thank you. And I really mean, thank you. I don't think there would've been another spot on the 'net with a solution to that problem, and your thread is pretty much one of the first few hits if you google Miranda's death on Horizon and how to avoid it.
Thank you for that thread and all your work in it.

Second, SilverEyesSE:
It's your post that brought me the second half of the puzzle. So...instead of leeching like 99% of the time, I'm actually going to contribute something this time, by fusing your and yekkth's approach.
Thank you too for that post.

Disclaimer: I'm not sure if the edit at Int is really necessary and I'm just fumbling about with numbers and places to put them like a monkey with a stick. It worked, and it SHOULD work for you, too.
If not...sorry. Tell us what you did to MAKE it work.

I did every step normally (conversations, etc), checked the values and everything was right, except for the Int 10491, which was 5 to me. I changed to 1 and she still dies.

If I figure out why, I'll post.

I registered just to post that this worked for me.  I was originally extremely disappointed that I had long passed the ability to save her because I kept doing missions.  I refuse to play in a universe being deprived of a butt that nice.  Femshep, no previous romance.  To summarize what I checked/changed:

20182 True
20183 True
20741 True
22698 True
20184 True
21085 True
22700 True
21872 True
21873 False

10491: 4 -> 1 (this number is 4 in my save before the tower)

I loaded up the corrected save from right before the fight and she lived!  And the view was beautiful!

I didn't romance her. All I did was:

1) Talk to her whenever she asked.
2) Give her access to Alliance resources.
3) Told her Kai Leng was around.

That's it. I didn't even know she could die when I finished my playthrough.

Edit: Oh and she was loyal in ME2.

It's ironic that it's so hard to save her in ME3 (not for me, but that's what it sounds like), when she was all but invincible in ME2.

Miranda can die in the suicide mission, you know.

I didn't have her loyalty from ME2 (I completed the mission but she wasn't a fan of mine after the fight with Jack), but she lived in mine. I'll admit I expected her to die because I didn't have her loyalty, but I completed all her missions, met with her whenever she asked, gave her access to the resources she wanted etc.

Yeah but it's harder. For instance, she can't die from not upgrading the ship, you can't send her into the vents (despite having tech abilities), and if she is disloyal as the fire team leader the tech dies instead of her. If you make her do the bubble someone else will die, and she can't be carried away by the swarms (someone else will always die instead of her there.) If you make her the second fire team leader she will survive EVEN if disloyal (she is the ONLY character that can do this.) The only way to kill her is to take her with you to the human reaper while disloyal. I'm not even sure if she can die holding the line.
