My ME3 Review....

Well... I did it!!! I beat the game and graduated to the Spoiler section!!

I am writing a review and then in a seperate post I have questions about the ending....

ME3 REVIEW:

Score: 8

Individual Scores:

Game Play: 6
Audio: 9
Video:8

6+9+8=23/3= 8 (rounded up for benifit of the doubt on the ending)

Section Review:

Gameplay: This was the harded section to score.... They did a lot right, and a lot wrong.

First the Good....

Brinign back Grenades: Loved this!!! This is the bigged positive I have for this game. It feels soooooo good to be able to lob a grenade at that last bad guy again.

Combat Roll: Seen this one comming from a mile away.... dosent make it any less cool (or useful).

Weapon Selection: So many weapons.... all with pros and cons.

Brinign back  Comsomize Weapons: Second biggest positive. Nothign says this is my weapon more than deciding between the different effects that the upgrades give.

Weapon Controll: This is a little subjective but I thought that the weapons were easier to controll than in previous games.

Emotional Enviroment: This is what makes this game. I have never reached emotional levels as I have playing this game. The big ones were Thane's Death, Shooting Udina (replayed that part 4 times), Killing Lang, and Being on Tali's plante with her as an LI. These moments are what make the game beautiful.

The Indifferent....

Armor: its the same as it has always been.... pick your pieces, get your benifits....

Romances: i only did Tali as the LI.... nothing really unexpected. Textbook implimentation....

Powers: With the exception of Ammo still being considered "Powers" everyhting was Status Quoe....

Non-Combat Missions: The only one that I can really remember was the Leigon one that reminded me of the crap Desond missions.... Nice to have a break, but it could have been more interesting....

The Normandy: Its really cool, but takes longer to get thigns done with the hidden loading times....

The Worlds: The lack of a Hub is more than compinsated by the level construction of the mission planets.... the only thing really missing is the ability to free roam....

Glitches: All games have them.... No product is perfict coming out of the Studio. As long as they get noticed and fixed.... I am fine with them.

The Bad....

Wave Combat: This gets really boring really fast..... Kill X amount of bad guys and they just "Hydra" back into place. Give me more enamies at once to make things more strategic....

The "A"wesome button (Spacebar): This has to be the worst thing being implemented in video games..... We have a lot of buttons on the controlers (and even more on keyboards) there should never be 3 highly important (simultanious) actions mapped to 1 key.... it makes good combat turn frustrating very fast....

The Journal: It was bad. Nothing updated, completed and active mission AND asignemnts were in the same list. Switching to the Missions tab always starts you in the middle of the slider. This was the biggest diapointment for me in this game.

War Assets: Riddler's Riddles, Bird Feathers, Intell Papers, you name it games make you hunt for it.... Very boring and tedious. Another game mechanisum that should be purged from game design.

Conversation Options: This was more annoying than anything. I understand what Bioware needed to do to get done what they wanted, but converging 10 Shepards with 10 different personalites into a single one is kind of soul crushing for the people that have played the first two game 20+ times....

Ease drop missions: Walking by someone and getting a mission form it without talking to them is odd.... Not necesarly bad, but it is really jarring.

Audio:

The Good....

Everyting: Music, Voice recoding, SFX.... all of it was great. The biggest pluse is to the musical scores. I need to get the music from this game.

The Bad:

Except the Volume Levels: Even with the low dynamic range.... there were some really big level difference in the game....

Video:

The Good....

Most of the Cinimatics: Everyhting in the game was beautiful. Baring Photoshop debacles, there is noting to really complane about how the enviroment looks.

The Indifferent....

Cnimatic Glitches: Like game glitches.... they just need to be fixed. Till then they are just annoying.

Film Grain: Didnt miss it, but the option to have it on or off would have been nice.

The Bad....

Lip Sync: I am a video production major.... When the video and audio is out of sync its mental torture....

Levels: The brights are ok, but the darks are too dark. I tried every gamma setting the game had and nothing could even out the levels....

Conclusion:

Very good game. I dont know what else to say about it (thats not ending related). A solid 8 (or A- if you prefer).
