" I thought it was great at first, then I realized that 90% of the side-quests consist of going to a planet and pressing 'A'. WTF happened to exploration? The other worlds are no longer mysterious, they are just balls with names and you click 'A'. This game was fun the first play through, after that you realize how rushed it actually was. I talked to Liara 3 times then I had sex with her... really??? Give us some romance thats believable. Not to mention that every single mission funnels you through a direct route (OP said being on rails), we didn't get to explore ****! Another false advertisement from BW. IMO the music in ME1 was amazing and mysterious, ME3 sounded like a nightmarish version of robo cop. ME1 had all of the makes of a unique game, world/vehicle expl., amazing music, endless dialogue, actual rpg elements that mattered, and a galaxy full of danger and mystery. ME3 shoots you directly down a narrow tunnel while pressing the 'A' button 4,524 times, and at the very end of the tunnel you crash and burn as you realize the only advancement made was with combat...
Does anyone else feel this way?

Ya most of the side quests were god awful, thats not much of a secret. Outside of handing them in at the citadel though, they take a total of about an hour to scan every planet in the game. So while still crappy, its not like its ME2 scanning.
Also, they could have had some more development on the LI side of things, but some of these characters you've already banged before, or at least already know very well. It doesn't require the same amount of setup as an introduction.
Not a bad post, but a little severe.

Well about the worlds not being mysterious, one would think that after two games you already have a sense of the galaxy. Hell I was happy to see most of the Atican Traverse systems again.

Well, in fairness to 3, this is the culmination of the story itself, and in that sense is not the third game but the third part of the one game. So you wouldn't realistically spend your time trawling the galaxy looking for interesting new worlds, would you? You're in the middle of a war at this point.

The side quests were terrible. Here I am faced with Earth getting its butt handed to it and random dude wants me to go fetch a book for him. Like, yeah. Priorities people! I kind of see what they did by making most of them short and sweet to keep your focus on the big picture, but...meh, it didn't sit well with me.
I liked exploring those planets back in ME1. The only things that needed fixing there were the cookie cutter bases, and the love-hate relationship with the Mako, of course.
And since I didn't exactly see a lot of that side stuff I did come to fruition apart from in the form of asset numbers, it felt like grinding dailies in WoW. As several people have said, seeing krogan riding into battle on the backs of that extinct dinosaur-thing we went and found a fossil of would've been awesome!

Agreed. The most awesome places to explore for me in ME3 were the races' homeworlds, which apart from Rannoch were far from uncharted. I'm happy with the way they did it; each game in the series still offers something unique.

Think of the 200 some odd planets that have names, throughout ME1, ME2 and ME3 we've landed on around 60 planets (parts/sections of planets to be fair), theres room for more exploration and mystery

Not much time to explore and roam free.
This is why I want a happy ending where you and your team survive, and like ME2 you can continue roaming and exploring AND expanding your experience with future DLC.
