No problems here. I have also turned off the UAC, but I think I did so afterwards.

I have UAC off (prior to installing). I installed DA:O fine. Once done though, I got a popup teling me it did not install properly (some compatibility popup) and asked to reinstall it. I just say No, and it works fine.

I always wondered why it did that though, and if it's a Windows 7 thing?

I didn't have any problems installing on 7 either...

OP: Can you be any more specific about what sort of problem you're running into?

Hate to copy the others, but no problem installing or playing here either. Had UAC off before doing so.

7 Ultimate x64 works fine. Only issues I have had are with my own messing with mods (Qunari PC etc) and the eventual slowdown of gameplay due to memory leaks (which is not just Win 7).

Go into the dragon age directory, right click on the launcher, and "run as administrator". You should only have to do this once. If it works, quit game and try launching it from the icon on the desktop with the normal doubleclick.

UAC is User Account Control. Its what pops up all the dialogs everytime an application wants to do something. Go to the start menu and in the search box start typing "User Account Control", and an Change User Account Control Settings should appear. Select that and to turn UAC off move the slider all the way to the bottom.

Depending on your comfort level with having it off you can put the setting back to where they are after DA installs.

can also turn off UAC:

* start

* run

* type in msconfig

* tolls tab

* change UAC settings, click launch

* set it to never notify

UAC is basically there for non technical users who are careless with installs or like to click popups and such. It will warn whenever an app is trying to install itself on your machine.

For most users it is more of an annoyance than a benifit though.

Anyone familiar with the compatibility popup I get after installing DA:O as well? The game installs fine and plays fine, but I always wondered why it does that, and hesitant that something didn't install correctly.

I only have the one account set as administrator on Windows 7 64b with UAC off. I pop the DVD in and just hit install on the launcher as it comes up. After it installs, I get the little Windows 7 compatibility popup saying the game "may not have installed properly" asking to reinstall.
