Javik can breathe everything. Everything!

Good sir, this made my day.

Might have missed this in the codex, but I noticed Javik doesn't have a helmet or even a "oxygen mask" of sorts for the parts where we are in space (or even when I turn on squad helmets in options)
this just for design purposes?
LOng time lurker first time poster here...just had to respond with this observation..
the collectors didnt need helmets either.

Yeah, but the collectors had extensive genetic modifications... maybe thats why they were able breathe in space

That guy's ego is so big, it bullets just bounce off it. Oh dear I have an idea for a poster... "I don't always wear head protection..." But when I do....

In his cycle only primatives wore helmets.
I came in to post an "In his cycle" joke, but I knew someone would beat me to it.

Also, what's the deal with the collector's edition armour variants for Ashley and Vega - those stupid looking visors are (thankfully) missing?

I would love it if those stupid visors were missing. Especially the one for Ashley. Vega's looks pretty dumb as well but I usually quit using him after getting Ashley back.

I only tried out those appearances on one side mission and I'm positive that they weren't wearing the visors. Thought it was a glitch or they realised how stupid they looked and didn't bother wearing them.

Yeah I tried them out too and never saw them wearing the visors... might have to force companion helms on in options? Vega looks pimp in that armor though.ZombifiedJake wrote...

Also, Shep gets that visor in the cerberus base I think... starts with a "D". Not sure why BW was obsessed with them... EDIT: Actually, I bought it at Spectre Requisitions... late game, think after Cerb base.
Javik doesn't wear a helmet because Prothean's don't actually need to breath. The nostrils are only there for smelling experiences... and decoration. /speculationz
