My issues with James Vega

But man, that guy is BUILT. Now there is a huge issue with this, all special forces training, be it from Spetznaz to Navy Seals are all based off SAS training, and the SAS don't build tanks.
The reason for this is agility, Special Forces use small unit tactics and require their operatives to be fit. Saying that, SF aren't weak either, they have a higher mucscle density than the normal person, but they are thin.
I'm not saying that their aren't exceptions to this rule, and Vega's role is a tank, but it just really annoyed me.

In all seriousness though, his body is quite over the top and a bit less would have been more but maybe the obvious steriod abuse is the reason why he is not an LI (though that wouldn't necessary be a dealbreaker for a gay romance with him).

i'm not sure how relevant sas or spetznaz training is in relation to a science fiction game lolol, i'm sure if sas and spetznaz were to fight reapers they may well still be built like whippets for speed and agility. but i dont think it matters how fast you can dodge around in a small area when reapers are wiping out people by the billions lol
i can see the point your making i just dont know if its relevant
and since there are loads of characters that aint massive i dont see the harm in having a beefcake on the team, makes it easier for shep to run by unnoticed while they blast away at vega woo hoo

I was more annoyed by his personality. Insubordinate, like Ashley, but not nearly as cute as she was in ME1, bragging a lot, just like Garrus but with a lot less cause and somewhat offensive towards Steven Cortez. Was happy when the game ditched him and I got Liara instead, who was my Shepard's love interest anyway, never looked back.
See, I thought he was way cuter than Ashley. And his relationship with Cortez was offensive how? That was one of my favorite parts of the game. It seemed clear to me they both really liked each other, but in typical guy fashion they expressed their affection by constantly mocking one another. If it was just James picking on Steve, I'd say you had a point, but Steve gave as good as he got.

I don't understand the hate for him. I honest found his character to be pretty cool. Hell he is a lot better than Kaidan. I guess people just don't like human characters.
Vega is ME3's Jacob. Your interactions with him, and thus how he comes off to you as a player, depend entirely on whether you play femShep or dudeShep. If I played dudeShep I'm pretty sure I'd have no opinion on the guy whatsoever, he'd just be Grunt Mk II, a generic fighty nonentity on my ship.
As a femShep, his disrespectful, insubordinate behavior and sexual harassment makes me want to Graal him to a bulkhead.
Like Jacob, I can't quite hold it against him that my femShep flirts with him without my permission, even if it does leave a bad taste in my mouth when I think about him. But unlike Jacob (well at least ME2 Jacob), he has more than enough reprehensible behavior of his own to hold against him to boot. Now that I've gotten Carnage from him I don't anticipate speaking to him again in any further femShep playthroughs, and regret only that I can't kick him and his CoC-violating pull-ups off my ship.
I do enjoy his relationship with Cortez, though, actually. Only good thing about him.

My main problem with him is that my male shep can't jump his bones

For me aside from sexual harassment thing, feelings is the same. However instead of sexual harassment his sticking his nose to everything and make sure everyone around aware of him attidute makes him unbearable burden.
This is why I never enter that floor if I have to upgrade a weapon. Even gave up following Steve's friendship because of him. He jumps into conversation on every other word.
Oh and Jacob was more professional than Vega (I was about to say more clever but then remembered his asking to Shep "Do you trust me?" question after saying hello). At least once you renegade him he talks like an officer and doesn't cross the line to act like you were best buddies. Vega even likes renegade answers or interrupts. Poor Jacob always found himself in vents because of his reply to first renegade conversation.
Best part of Vega is punching him, worst part you have to listen his nonsense while doing that.

Augh that conversation is so infuriating. You can't even tell him he farked up. You have to support his decision to abandon people for data, which mainShep would never, ever, ever do. (And then later you have to agree he's N7 material, which... what? He's sure not useful enough in combat to sell him as some kind of great soldier, and nothing in his storyline or his behavior even begins to suggest he's anything more competent than a standard meathead. At least Ash and Kaidan and Garrus saved the galaxy before they got the Spectre nod...)
Jacob isn't all that professional - mainShep was already skeptical of his non-Cerberus credentials, and when he started pacing in front of her instead of standing at attention she basically wrote him completely off as anything remotely Alliance - but yeah, he's a world of distance from "Lola" and doing pull-ups with your back to your commanding officer while she addresses you. I suppose you could theoretically argue that they got all close when he was guarding her door during her down time, but the fact that all your conversations with him imply or outright state you know nothing about him sort of puts the lie to that.
It's kind of weird because he's the one who salutes you even though he *isn't* supposed to, in the prologue. But that respect disappears the second the Reapers hit. Another parallel with Jacob, I suppose (who does that sudden personality flip from friendly and supportive during Freedom's Progress to closed off, curt and suspicious on the Normandy).

He was my second source for humor, after Joker, and I loved his relationship with
I don't fault him for his past decision to choose intel over people--he seems to acknowledge the mistake and it bothered him enough to question joining the N7 program and seeking Shep for guidance. My guess would be that it was a learning experience for him (remember, he only had to make this decision because of Captain Toni's death) and I would bet he would make a much better decision the next time.

I don't think the Alliance puts a lot of stock into professionalism. After Ashley in ME1, I stopped expecting it from anybody.
