The reason he didn't speak in the game is because Bioware represented him in ME2 as annoying and lame villain. Not only was he annoying, he maked Reapers who are considered mech-cthulhus to be considered as a joke.
The dialoge with the Rannoch destroyer Reaper was 100x times more scary and intimidating he came realy close to Sovereign's speech, Harbinger is out of his league compared to those 2.

I was really expecting Harbinger to be the final boss too. Also I found it weird how when the game started we didn't see him or how Harbinger didn't even go looking for Shepard. I find it hard to believe that Harbinger arrived on Earth and just began reaping with his fellow reapers. Wasn't the reason Earth was attacked first and with the most reapers because of Shepard? It would have been cool as if Shepard was just getting on the Normandy ready to leave Earth she saw Harbinger and he said something like "Running won't do you any good nothing can stop us" or at least have him some what follow her around the galaxy or show up on different planets. It just seems weird how the reaper who has a grudge against Shepard and talks much about her didn't even notice her in 3. As I was running to the conduit I was expecting some thrash talk to go down lol.

It was great how they built Harbringer up in Mass Effect 2, and then with that talk of him in 3...and then he didn't do anything except fill a roll that could have been filled by any other Reaper.

I LOVED Harbinger's overlordish, evil voice and phrases. "We are limitless." "The forces of the universe bend to me." "This is true power." That sh** still sends shivers up my spine just thinking about it.

MOAR!

Yeah, it happens quite often i listen to only his voice on Youtube. Like 5 minutes of just Harbinger talking.

I ****ing love it.

Do you guys think Bioware removed Harbingers voice because there were people complaining about him talking too much in Mass Effect 2?? <_<

It may very well be so... :(
I missed hearing him speak...

Not only are his antics extremely entertaining in my opinion, but when he shuts up he seems to become way too effective for my liking... A whole platoon obliterated just like that? Really? Please Harby, resume talking... :P

Then again, most of the people complained he talked too much, so having him be silent was listening to the majority... So I guess it was for the best, or was it? :/

Man... In your world, Sovereign will always be the best. All because he was the first Reaper we talked to.

Harbinger is not bad.

Sovereign > Harbinger >>>>>>> Starchild

I would have been good if Harbinger gloated over shepherds body before leaving, then shepherd got up.

Didn't it go something like "Harbinger is heading your way!"? I was like "oh cool an epic boss battle with the boss Reaper!" then out of nowhere I got blown up and that was the last of it...epic dissapointment.

Sovereign was much better written than harbinger, but I was still expecting a decent harbinger dialogue.

Well it's hard to talk and Indoctrinate someone at the same time. Especially since indoctrination involve the use of sounds

This is one reason why I'm willing to buy into the whole Indoc Theory. In both ME1 and ME2 you have conversations with a Reaper dreadnaught. But in ME3 you only get to hear a Reaper destroyer threaten you as he dies - no one of Harbringer's status talks to you at all.

Maybe Bioware is saving it for the real ending?

Some people say they have seen Keith Szarabajkas name in the credits.

Do you guys think that Bioware have cut off some material from the game and doing it as a DLC and add it later in with Harbinger? Because right now, it doesn't make any sense removing Harbinger and a final showdown with him.

All that build up in ME2 and DLC Arrival for a cameo with no talk..... That would be like Darth Vader suddenly disappearing in The Return of the Jedi.

I don't think the conversation with Sovereign will ever be topped.

"I am the vanguard of your destruction."

Yes, I would have liked a conversation/confrontation with Harbinger, with two caveats: No more battle taunts, and hire a different voice actor who can speak in a mechanical, wooden monotone.

Wait a minute... I think I found another job for Jessica Chobot!

Yeah I was disapointed at how they handled Harbinger in the end. He really was built up to be THE FINAL BOSS of the Mass Effect series, but then.....nothing.

I missed Harbinger a lot...

I'm a big fan of his talking. I liked him in 2. He annoyed me so much on insanity playthroughs, that I built up that proper baddy hatred. And then essentially the OP picture is what I had.. I'm still pretty sad that he's built up so much, he flies down.. and then not one word. I was getting so pumped running at him..

I'm not saying making Shepard fight him could ever come off as anything great. Size, lasers... It's obvious they would struggle to portray him in Reaper form in the right way. Pretty much all or nothing. Nothing at all was even worse to me though..

I think a fight could be done properly.

Shepard fighting on the ground. Taking cover between and in buildings. And finding Cain nuclear weapons and fire on Harbinger. And also call in orbital strike from a fleet orbiting Earth who can spare the little time they have against the Reapers up there.

Or Joker comes and pick Shepard up and you can fly the Normandy and fight Harbinger. And either before or after the final showdown you will have a nice conversation with Harbinger. ^_^

The Reapers LOVED speaking in ME1 and 2 and showing us how inferior we were.

Like true sportsman The Reapers let their reaping do the talking.

Asides from the ending debacle. This was the most disappointing thing in the game for me, How do you spend an entire game(me2) building the coolest enemy in the series up and then not even using him?

That makes me so sad...... I guess Bioware is focusing 100% on the ending now.... I cant really see it, how Shepard wakes up and starts running after Harbinger instead than to the beam.... :(

people were stupid to ask to reduce his volume back in ME2. Harbinger was a cool villain but his lack of charisma in comparison with Sovereign made people complain about his trashtalk, resulting in NO Harbinger in ME3. I think that's the worst fan-made call to developers ever.

I always liked his voice. Even if he sounds like a joke compared to Sovereign, ANY REAPER voice is more charismatic than any non-reapers like TIM.
