Would you be fine with Shepard dying?

Did you have a choice to return to Thessia? Did you have a choice to intervene in the Quarian/Geth conflict? Did you have a choice to visit the Citadel in the first place? (considering you could have teleconferenced all relevant plot points). Did you have a choice to go to London?...and so on, etc.
The point is, this story is predetermined. The gamer is given (not creating) choices to effect outcome within the writers vision.

so..I would like the option to sacrifice shep as well as save shep...gives me more fun and replayability
This. It should be one of many options. Or it should be a bad ending, where you didn't make the right choices, a la ME2 ending.

Seeing what happened to squad members and the galaxy in general will be a must.
And of course pink version of Sheppard surviving for people who are really connected to the character should be considered because "why not it is video game and not going for Nobel prize in literature anyway so artistic freedom is not as important as large bunch of depressed (too) emotional fans".

As many have said self-sacrifice should definitely be among available options. What I don’t understand is why some say that wanting Shepard to survive = demanding sunshine and rainbows.
Not true. Shepard surviving does not make for a happy ending.
If Shepard lives through this and wakes up there aren’t any sunshine and bunnies waiting. The world is in ruin. And they get to see it, see what they had done to it and learn to live with it. Always in doubt, if maybe there was something they could have done different that would save some more people.
That’s the bitter part. The sweet part should have been survivors who stick with you
through all of this.
Instead… well.
That's exactly what I'm always trying to say when that argument rears it's ugly head! Even if Shepard survives, the Earth (not to mention the rest of the galaxy) is in ruins, billions are dead and there's be years of rebuilding as well as fightning and mopping-up action (even if the husks died along with the Reapers, there's no gurantee that there won't be hordes of indoctorinated fanatics left after the Reaper's demise) and with the goverments of the Earth in ruins, Earth's bound to be as chaotic as the world of the Fallout games for the years to come. That's happy? Nah, wouldn't quite say so. But Shepard's be alive, his friends would still be around and he could find some happiness with his LI at least...

I would prefer it to be one of several options.
If it happens, it has to mean something. And there should be catharsis where we see our crew/LI express feelings over your fate. We got none of that

If his sacrifice resulted in an ending better than the one we saw?
Personally, I think having Shepard die to save galactic civilization and stop the Reapers would've been a better way to have a "bittersweet" ending.
I think it worked well in Dragon Age:Origins with the Ultimate Sacrifice ending so I think if we had an ending that was otherwise happy with Shepard dying then that would be a good way to conclude it, especially since this is the last Mass Effect game with Commander Shepard.
My Shepard did die to save a galactic civilization and it's future by stopping the Reapers.

No.
In a game like Mass Effect, there shouldn't be any of, "Shepard has to ___"
That and they've killed him once already, then brought him back. Which would cheapen the feel of it. Combined with the fact we've already had 3 other sacrificial deaths of main characters in ME3 alone.

Well he does kind of need to beat the game....
But I agree, it should be an option. Killing Shepard in ME2 was possible and you had to be really full on Renegade to do it but people still did even though it required such relatively low effort. So it should be an option.

Both outcomes can close his story worthy, IF done correctly.

I DO believe that I could accept an ending in which Shepard dies, as long as it was more meaningful and provided more emotion than what we have now - something more in line with the other meaningful deaths in the game.

What I don't want to happen is the messianic ending where he dies at the hands of the reapers only to come back to life and instantly kick reaper ass
Otherwise known as the matrix ending
