There are probably very few people who will replay me3 often while truely looking forward to the current endings every time.

I really think that the common argument that we need to keep the current endings intact as they are for the fans that enjoyed the endings fails hard.     These people are not required to download or install any new ending dlc!   It is totally legit for them to just not get that particular piece of dlc.

I would much rather Bioware went big with an ending dlc rather than add in a few short and cute explanations that explain how their ending(s) made sense and were great all along.

I'm pretty sure the majority would agree with me, but even if we are a smaller minority, making a larger ending dlc expansion doesn't hurt the people who liked the endings and want to replay the game up to those endings because, again, they don't need to download any new dlc.

"The teams at Del Rey and BioWare would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the Mass Effect fans for any errors and oversights made in the recent novel Mass Effect: Deception," the apology post on Bioware's forums reads. "We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel."

I don’t get it Bioware changes the book’s because it goes against the continuity of the mass effect universe. Some can say so does the ending of the game ether way fan’s pointed out the inconsistencies and Bioware fixed them .the game is no different. The art augment has been answered by Bioware them selves .

Geesh this story is all over the place. I even saw an article in the Washington Post about it.

I guess IGN was jealous of Bioware's bad PR and wanted some of their own so they didn't feel left out?

They are not afraid to stick with the hand that feeds them

Good point... I wonder what the price really is to sell out your dignity these days.

Good find, I thought the rant that the IGN guy gave had a bit of hypocrisy unto itself, but reading his statement about his feelings on the Sucker Punch change really shows it.

From day one people are saying that IGN cancelled his trip to PAX this year. He is banned from there.

It was Forbes subtle way of saying "OH REALLY?" when Moriarty started his rant about "gamer entitlement." XD
In some ways though, I find it a little sad that the non-gamer websites make more sense than the websites that are part of the gaming industry.

Ha. So Moriarty's all for fans influencing decisions when he's a fan of something and it's partly his influence, but when other fans want stuff, they're just been entitled little idiots with no appreciation for artistic integrity.

Nice. Nice. I think I'm gonna go subscribe to Forbes now.

An RPG game is basically just an interactive comic book.

Ugh....oh well, cant wait for Forbes to put them in their place again :D

IGN should cover the shut down of EA's servers that rendered useless 14 online passes of their games... Oh, wait...

The basic problem is that the people speaking for Bioware now tied their egos to the particular form that ME3 took. Now they cannot let go and are, predictably, making irrational statements.

EA/Bioware needs to take the ME3 team, put them into a back room somewhere, and let someone who views this as a business issue (does our product satisfy our customers) rather than a personal issue (does this validate my self image as an artist above reproach).

Such a change would quickly resolve these issues and give everyone what they want (customers get a game that meets their expectations, EA/Bioware gets to turn off the negative press and go back to making money).

This is beautiful. It's like watching a head on train wreck in super slow motion.

That's the good thing about these kinds of controversies: the hypocrites come out of the woodwork and identify themselves so that you don't have to waste any time listening to what they say.

Apparently Colin will respond next week on his podcast, according to twitter. He seems to maintain there is still a difference.

Kain and Moriarty are both right; these are op-ed pieces, and both Forbes and IGN have made valid points, worthy of discussion.

The opposition to the ME3 endings is running the gamut from mild disappointment through reasoned criticism through impassioned persuasion to aggressive demanding through bullying through to ridiculous legal instruments. It's hard to take a proper measure of it all, and the most vocally aggressive postings will tend to get more notice than they deserve.

Moriarty is addressing the aggressive and entitled end of the protest spectrum (and there is one, and it is not as tiny a minority as we all would hope), while Kain focuses on the more reasonable majority. Op-eds need strong opinions to work, and overall, this is a quality debate, when you take all the other articles out there into consideration, and the well reasoned discussion that shines through here.

Edit: extra point - Kain is showing better journalistic skills, but then he had to educate himself about the topic, whereas it falls under Moriarty's speciality. Overall Kain is more reasonable, but that does not totally detract from Moriarty's more heartfelt response.

And that's how you pick hypocrisy and throw it back at the hyprocrite's face! Haha!

What about Cole's designer's artistic integrity, uh? Yeaah...

You can't scold Moriarty for pandering to one side while Kain is doing the same.

There is a difference... Kain attacked us first due to misconceptions and THEN he changed his stance after some research.

1.-  http://www.forbes.co...-on-metacritic/  First article about the protests. (I posted as Andrea Vanness for those interested)

2.-  http://www.forbes.co...-mass-effect-3/  Second article. I posted on it as well.

3.-  http://www.forbes.co...dlc-from-ashes/

4.-  http://www.forbes.co...ess-like-games/

5.-  http://www.forbes.co...lready-on-disc/

6.-  http://www.forbes.co...lc-controversy/

8.-  http://www.forbes.co...money-for-kids/

9.-  http://www.forbes.co...ible-consumers/

10.-  http://www.forbes.co...ffect-3-ending/

11.-  http://www.forbes.co...blic-relations/

12.-  http://www.forbes.co...ending-sort-of/

Now... Do you see the change of tone from the first article to the others?  How the more he investigated into the situation his stance CHANGED dramatically?

That is what happens when you check for facts, from mocking and being completely against the whole thing, after KNOWING what it was REALLY about, he changed his stance.

Thanks for compiling the list.  This is excellent.  I read all of them. He started off thinking the user reviews were due to the sexuality, but something about the data was an outlier, so investigated.  That is what journalists are supposed to do.

Since I have a void to fill, I'm going to check out his recommendation on "Uncharted".  It sounds like what I wanted from ME:3.

Well done!

I've actually lost all respect for IGN and Gamespot over this situation.

Can anyone recommend any other really good comprehensive game article/review websites?
I've been going to those to since they started, but it's finally dawning on me that their time is over.

I like Gamefront, I don't know if they are what you are looking for, but they aren't a huge detriment to gaming as an artform unlike IGN, Gamespot, etc.

Have been saying that from DAY ONE. Just as any journalist  with the disenfranchasing theme.
The present team is not capable anymore to deal with the game. They simply cracked.

Leaving people with emotional attachment problems dealing with business just make the problem bigger, like a snowball it will turn into an avalanche, as long as people as Dr. Ray Muzyka don't put someone dealing with them.

Heavens the statement of Dr. Ray is filled with distortions, and lies we can notice that came not from him, per se, but from the fact that he based his entire statement on the history of ONE PART, that obviously paint the opposition bad.

We can now hope that Dr. Ray being with his name involved on this mess will watch BOTH SIDES more closely and see how he was played for people he should be able to inconditionally trust;
