And people wonder why the developers don't listen to them.
Why should they?
What a waste.
I like your picture, so I want to ask you something: Did you like the Star Trek reboot? The artistic integrity to change an entire universe? Do you think Gene Roddenberry would have liked it?

The Infamous 2 controversy and this controversy are two different things.
Infamous 2 was still in development when fans learned of Cole's new looks and wanted a change.
Comparing that to what happened in ME3 would be as if Infamous 2 shipped with the new-look Cole and then was changed with a patch a month afterwards due to fan outcry. Obviously that wasn't the case.
This should be something "Kain" and this community should realize, but I'm not surprised they don't. Kain is probably lurking around these forums trying to figure out what he can write next to get more hits, and the community that loves Kain for doing it are simply not thinking things through, but are just reacting out of gut instinct.
It's sad and pathetic all around.

Thanks for pointing out what most are overlooking..but I doubt it'll do any good here. They just keep refilling the Kool-Aid.
Yeah the difference being sucker punch never lied about cole's appearence and had the smarts to take the fan's suggestions to fix it BEFORE release. Bioware was either rushed by EA or thought it would be artsy to release an ending that contradicted EVERYTHING they said before release.
Now they're paying IGN to defend them because either EA rushed them and is watching their ass or bioware thought it would be artsy, it backfired, and they they don't know what to do about it.

While I can agree to some extent, it's undeniably sweet-sweet justice being delivered...
On point: If I had know the ending would be this godawful before release I would have complained.

Whether I liked the Star Trek reboot or not has absolutely dick all to do with the ME3 scenario. That's comparing apples to brocculi.
But to answer your question, yeah I liked the Star Trek reboot, and I don't know what Gene Roddenberry would have thought about it. Why would I? He didn't even like Deep Space Nine, which is where my picture comes from.

I found it amusing that I've seen Mass Effect 3 ending articles in several media outlets now, including Forbes and Fox News. Crazy that the fans can make this big of an impact. Even more crazy that despite the endings, Bioware was able to make a game that reached in to peoples hearts/minds deep enough to encourage this kind of response to a poor finish. Good on everyone in the community for making it a to improve something we all really do care about, and to see the proper justice done for all the characters we have grown to know and love since the release of Mass Effect in 2007.
Actually, I think Forbes is now trolling for Google Hits. They've spent way more time on discussing ME3 that makes sense. As I've said elsewhere, this Kain is only slightly connected to Forbes. Forbes gives him a blog and lets him run with it. This is not the same, IMO, as having content in the main magazine.
He's spending way to much time on ME3 and not enough on other technology. I think he's enjoying the traffic.

Infamous 2 was still in development? You know what..thats a good point and should be discussed.
What is the difference between fans having input during the creative process and having input after the creative process. They are still interfering with the so called Artistic vision of the maker. During or after? who cares? Its not picasso making his own painting and expressing himself. Theres 100+ people involved, deadlines, money, publishers, politics (can't go overboard on homosexuality) isn't this art already tainted after all these filters. But god-forbid fans get a say.
And apparently the creative process of this ART was never over because DLC was planned all along which is part of this art. Or did you forget the stupid blue box at the end of the game.
In conclusion changing infamous 2 is exactly the same as ME3. Forbes has a point
This! (Most) games are not art. They're created by companies whith hundreds of people working on them. It's all about money-making, not expressing oneself. Bottom-line oriented companies can't possibly create art.
The "artistic integrity" arguments are invalid.

Catching wind of something earlier in the game's development process, which is what happened with Infamous 2, and "catching wind" of something by playing the game after the development process is completely finished, which is what happened in ME3, are two completely different things. You can't just wish it wasn't so because it's an inconvenient fact. You really think development and post-development stages are interchangeable? That's just being profoundly ignorant of the development process.
The development process is not completely finished. Otherwise they wouldn't be selling DLCs. Therefore, it is still not a different scenario than the one the article describes.

I declare Kaine 'Sherlock Holmes' and Colin Moriarty well and truly Rickenbached.
And then the ending was revised and the author went on to greater success! Dawwwww...
You know what? Thanks for bringing this up. This is another analogy that deserves to be brought up here.
Arthur Conan Doyle was fed up with Sherlocks Holmes, and fully intended "The Final Problem" to be just that. However, when the Queen herself (and the rest of the SH fans) wrote to him to ask that he please not kill him off, Arthur Conan Doyle continued onwards and retconned the ending, complete with a well-written explanation of how he avoided death at the falls.
I think BW changing the endings is hardly a precendent.
