No, simply having another employee do the review isnt' enough. The *ORGANIZATION* has an interest conflict there, not just the employee. If one of your primary public faces is in something you want to review, there's a conflict of interest there to make it look good. In any other business, IGN's conduct in this regard would be inexcuseable. Well if Chobot reviewed ME3 there is a definite conflict of interest there.Handing it off to another reviewer seems fair to allow them to carry on their business model of providing video game reviews and other info. Standing out was not an option.
On top of that, to then release a bunch of editorials on how anyone complaining is an entitled whiner, is...highly suspect.
Nobody outside of big name gaming would get away with that the way IGN has.
