So yeah. I read up on where to get this piece of armor, from Wade's market in Denerim. Problem is, I can't. Apparently after getting drake scale armor made, the merchant refuses to let you see his inventory. What now? Am I going to have to cheat or something?

If you get both sets of drakescale made, you can no longer shop there. But they start selling Felon's Coat about mid-way through the main quest after you have a couple allies already.

Wade and Herren, or whatever the assistant's name is.

If you listen to wades last line after crafting the dragon scale armor he says he's taking a sabbatical which I guess means the shops closed. He completed his life work, NO FELON coat for you!!!

I thought the trigger for the felon's coat was the first suit of armor. So the process is like ...

get drakescales -> have armor made (pay 10g for tip) -> buy felon's coat -> have armor made (pay 20g for tip) -> get dragon scale -> have dragon armor made -> shop closes

If you don't pay the tip either time, the shop will close after the second set of armor.

Shop will close, as in you can't buy anything more, even if you pay both times after the second set of drakeskin.  You can still go back and get dragonscale made, but you can't buy anything.

You don't need to pay the 10 sovereign tip the first time, only the second time to get the superior drakescale armor. The shop closes no matter what.

I don't think you can get the dragon armor if you don't pay both times.

Nah, IMO either your level is the trigger or how many allies you've gathered.
I've bought Felon's Coat with my first char, and he had not created any drake scale armor when I bought it ( mainly because I hadn't found the scales yet :P )

You can get it even without paying once. You even need only 3 Drakescales for the first Drakearmor, so that Wade becomes proficient enough.
But you need to pay once , so that the Dragon-Armor becomes the "Superior"-version.

Well on the 360, I didn't pay either time and was able to still get dragon scale armor. However, it wasn't superior.

I was able to get the first set of drakescale armor at a fairly low level. I went immediately following the circle of magi quest as the armor was for my mc and required 20 str to wear. (+4 permanent str from the fade made it worthwhile to complete the circle first.

I bought the felon coat as soon as I could afford it.

They ban you from the store even if you do pay for the armor both times

I'm confused. At WHAT point do you no longer have the option to purchase? You are allowed 2 sets of drake scales and 1 set of dragon scale. Do they stop selling to you before you ask for the dragon scales, but after the first 2 drake scales? (I hope not...I have already ordered the 2nd set of drake scales.). I do KNOW for a certainty you can come back after that point for dragon scale. But I saw the felon's coat there.........

If you have Wade create 3 sets of Dragonkin (2 drake, 1 dragon) armor the shop will stop selling to you.

I had 1 drake scale, and 1 dragonbone armor made, and the shop stayed open throughout that play through. Never used that armor either. hehe

I'm working on a second play through right now, and Wade's has offered the Felon's Coat (and there is another unique heavy armor in there too) after completing 3 of the Treaties. I have yet to enter Redcliffe castle. I completed a different combination the first time, and it was for sale right before I visited the dwarves (my last quest before Landsmeet). So it appears you need to complete 3 of the 4 Blight quests (any combination) before they upgrade their stock.

Sorry but even before I killed the high dragon and got the dragon scale to make the dragon bone armor I was banned from looking at the ignorant merchant's items. He just says "Please... leave!" And the conversation ends. You cannot ask "Can I see what you have for sale?" or anything after you get the superior drake scale armor.

I play on the PC version, and the Felon coat was never available at wades for me.

Checked a few times prior to making the drake scale. Made first drake set...checked a few times. Made second set...more visits/questing, then gave up and went ahead and had him back the dragonbone.

Mebbe its random like some of the other uncommon vendor items?

I'm pretty sure vendor's stock is level based, new items show up after you get to a certain level. (I haven't played around enough to figure out the exact level triggers yet though.)

Well, he won't sell to me now. I picked up the 2nd set of drake scale. I'm sure Wade will make the dragonscale, but I can no longer buy. The idiot behind the counter just says "please leave" so don't get the 2nd set of drake scale armor (or even ask about it) until *after* you've bought what you want from his stock. Yeah, there was a set called the kings something or other too...I hadn't heard about it before. Bummer.
