I think it is safe to assume that BW is not down with the IT. I bascially says the ending that they worked hard on, and defended to the press was so bad that fans are rationalizing it away. And they are doing so by nitpicking details.
This would go under what Dr. Ray called "undermining the artistic integerity" of his artists. I think we should be happy with whatever closure we get form BW in April and try to enjoy it, not complain that the ending DLC wasn't IT.

Well the way I see it is if the IT isn't what they intended & the ending's being so bad I think your giving those that were responcible for writing the end too much credit. The way I see it is that if that's the best they can come up with I would be so nice as to call them artistic that's just an insult to true artists. Now the ones that disigned the planets & characters yes definately artistic but the poor writing at the end is not worthy of being called art.

Anyone who think the indoctrination theory is stupid, like I did, need to watch the video. It's actually intricate and brilliant and beautiful. And not at all what bioware intended : ) But I think defending it is a good way to remind them what a clever and artistic twist actually is. And even if I knew they didn't want to do it, it makes the ending less painful for me.

As much as I love the idea of indoctrination theory, Mike Gamble's twitter last night said that Synthesis was the optimal ending because it's the hardest to unlock.

Yes.

It wasn't an offical statement on his part or anything, he was just answering questions and being playful. But it sure sounds like he means it. Sorry, new to twitter and not sure how to link to that tweet alone, but he said it at 11:33 pm last night.

This actually supports my idea that they weren't outright lying about needing MP to get the "best" ending.

If they think the "best" ending is Synthesis, then you can get it without MP. It's just that the players feel 4k/5k Destroy is the best...but I don't think the devs do. :(

That sounds like it's true. I always just kind of assumed they miscounted in the past and were too lazy to fix that announcement that said MP wasn't required. The other thing that came to mind was that maybe the DLC they planned would add enough war assets to make MP unrequired. "Congratulations! Aria has Omega back! Add 1k assets!"

Apologies, I really don't want to get the conversation off track (and I'm not for or against IT either way) but a question on these war assets? I never touched multiplayer but I thought I ended the game with over 7000. I picked synthesis, but just assumed after reading that same file would get me a breathing scene on Destroy. It won't? I should mention that I did play a pure paragon Shep through all three games, so I had tons of asset points like Conrad Verner, Thorian Refuges, ect.

Pure paragon, 7200 EMS I chose Destroy and got the Breathe and the Stargaze scenes.

So did I, and the math that is being tossed around (with the exception some who claim otherwise without documented evidence) is that, doing what you (and I) have done can only net around 3600-3700 war assets (after factoring in 50% Galactic Readiness).

To get the "breath" ending, you need 5K war assets if you don't "save" Anderson, and 4K if you do (again, after factoring in readiness).

So, correct. It will not. You need 4K war assets (after readiness) to get the breath ending, and it seems that is only possible with MP.

''punish them'' But is this not the beauty of choice! Sometimes there is only one right method!

I guess that's where you and I will have to disagree. I think that telling players there is only one right method is actually the exact same thing we're experiencing right now: telling the players the Catalyst's logic is the right one, with no objection, and that they must now choose based on his logic, which is "right" according to BioWare.

But the Starchild tries to convince you against Destroy. He says that it will make the cycle continue. It's the only one he has something negative to say about.

I also think sacrifice can still come about in a new ending that follows destroy. I can really enjoy sacrifice too. I loved the way they worked it into Dragon Age: Origins.

That...doesn't make sense. Were you at 50% galactic readiness? Maybe I'm confusing the two war asset types, but I had around 7200 as well, which equated to 3600 after readiness, and didn't get the breath.

Nope, it is lazy writing.

In fact, even if the theory is true....that is just a much worse move to just removing the actual ending with the FULL GAME'S release. That is just unethical in many ways.

Soo I don't know which one I should pick...neither of them make me feel better about this debacle....

Ah, nope, I said EMS , I was at 96% of Readiness <- Yep, with multiplayer. No way of getting the breathing scene without it, so it's for me, the perfect one.

wohhh we just hit another level of choice.

why can't i try to talk to that cerberus engineer and be like 'come on, don't do this. join my team'.now that would be true choice.

So you don't want choice unless it is an actual choice and not a restart it from save point and pick the right one flex. I can respect that.

ps. the ending was travesty to choice. someone offer you 3 options in a brand new context of choas and you can't question them on it. it messed everything about mass effect up

That...is exactly what I want.

I want people to be able to choose, not be forced to reload and choose again to see the true end of the game.

Hardly saying that synthesis is optimal.

Same here! I heard something about Stargaze only being on NewGame+, but it just came up for me. Of course by that point, I already had "long service medal" achievements from all available games, just for importing.

I guess to me that sounds like exactly what he's saying. I'm not knocking on IT though, I'm just trying to assimilate anything new I get my greedy little hands on, just like I did with IT.
