You don't even have to camp ammo boxes with the paladin, you just have to know their locations....
my engineer uses decoy/drain powers, hardly the kind of stuff that gets big kills. most of my damage comes from the assault rifle and i rank 2nd place in most gold games. again, 2nd place using non-lethal powers. u trolling, you can't lie to me about this

I've primarily been either a sniper or shotgun user since game launched, but last night I took a Turian Soldier, maxxed Marksman, with a high level modded Revenant. Using Marksman (and even not using it) I'm pretty sure I was tearing enemies apart with it. My only complaint was the turian himself, not being able to roll or sidestep quickly etc meant I took a lot of hits, and the hits I did take seemed to hurt a ton. This was on Silver.
Me and my buddy were playing silver last night complaining about the Turian's no dodge thing for about an hour last night. Mostly just because nobody else was talking and we felt like making snide remarks like "I should have dodged that brute...OH WAIT!"
I've found assault rifles pretty reliable myself, but I'm apparently a masochist because I frequently use SMGs too.

First, I wanna say how awesome it is to see a company guy posting just regular player guy stuff. Really, its great, gold star.
Second, last night was my first time with a Turian soldier as well. I dont have a revenant, but marksman with the phaeston three I felt like I was toting a minigun instead of an assault rifle. Yeah, definetely felt as though I was tearing people to tiny little people pieces.

Glad I'm not the only one here who's not just a fanboy of the Carnifex. I don't mind buttin heads with em, but it gets kinda old when they start to get pissy and just naturally assuming they're superior with no proof to back it up

Yes, that's the problem. One race of one class is the only one that would ever consider using full-auto weapons (on gold at least).
On bronze and even silver, Avenger X is king on any class, though.

the Phaeston and Revenant are in the AR section but aren't ARs really. they're listd as machine guns in the descriptions and operate accordingly. So in a way, you were carrying a minigun instead of an AR

At X it's exceptionally light, reasonably accurate even on the move and has ok firepower overall. It's lighter than most pistols even, and with the option for full auto fire, you can chew things up fairly quickly if you can keep her on target (very easy imo)
Interesting, I might give Avenger a shot.

Why are assualt rifles nearly useless? You need to fire an entire magasine into an enemy before they die (roughly between 40-80 shots) Basically there is no use for them, since peeking out from cover to take down one expose you to long to be efficient, even if you got high lvl weapon and mod.
This is really an issue at silver and gold, i understand it shouldn't be easy to kill enemies, but this is ridiculous.
Ahem...my Mattock X would like to have a word with you.
You're probably using the wrong mods on it, or you don't have them unlocked yet. On Bronze, Silver, or Gold, I use the Mattock 95% f the time. It does require the right mods to make it deadly. But when its done right at the hands of a competent shooter it's fantastic.
The best mod to use for a large majority of the enemies fought is the Assault Rifle Piercing mod. I cannot say enough about it. It is by far the best mod for bullet type assault rifles, and especially the Mattock. All of my AR mods are level V so I have been using them at their full potential. But I can tell you this. In 90% of my games, I was always on top with the Kill count, and all I use is my Mattock. Even pre-patch with players using Falcons, I still surpassed them. I'm not bragging of my shooting skills. I'm just describing what I've done with the Mattock. If what you say about AR's as being useless, then I would be on the top spot maybe 20% of the time.
Drop the Assault Rifle Piercing mod in your gun, load up on the extended thermal clip, and aim for headshots. You'll see armored targets drop like flies. Especially Guardians. And every chance you get to shoot through walls or windows, do it. You won't regret it.

I have noticed that it does tend to be disturbingly effective, in a manner that outweighs how powerful it should be.Jarrett Lee wrote...

Somehow, my Turian Marksman Soldier gets more DPS/multikills with a point-blank Avenger than with a point-blank Revenant.

I tried that yesterday on Bronze for the lulz and beat it in a two-man carrying an absolute anchor, but I had to go through several armor packs to do it. The problem with the gun is that it's just too inefficient at range due to the spread, but you get torn apart up close because you can only stunlock the one target. The Hornet proves to be a much more efficient and flexible option on a Turian generally.

But they're just not very good in the multiplayer game
Yeah you can squeeze out a working build, but it's like fighting the system to play a class which is only good if everyone else is bad. Human soldiers always do more damage than Turian soldiers, and Krogan Sentinels beat Turian sentinels, too.
The Turian Soldier needs grenades I think.

Has more to do with how you play then, at point blank I can shred things from the hip at point blank with the Revenant. I do considerably better with my Revenant on any Soldier than I did with my Avenger X. More so now that I've gotten the Revenant II finally.

I agree; there are just too many powers with no synergy competing for recharge time on the Turian Soldier's bar.

There's plenty of proof the Raw dps numbers are greatly in favor of slow fire weapons. Add in the fact that rapid fire weapons are absolute trash against armor and have less accuracy and more weight then that should be all the proof you need.

How does this address the fact that the crosshair covers a half-inch box whether you hold the trigger down or not under Marksman?

A.) shoot from cover if you simply must spray and pray
B.) fire in bursts for far better effect than simply spraying whether in cover or on the move.
These two simple rules take the Revenant from almost useless lightshow to a killing machine even without the AP/Extended Barrel which I unfortunately do not have at this time. I swear by this weapon, live by this weapon, and often forget I have a secondary while using this weapon, because I know how to use it effectively at any range with those two rules.
tempted to make them my new Sig.
