I personally thought Da2's story was better than DAO's.  The graphics and load were far better optimized.  I don't mind a voiced main character because it gives the main character depth and makes the story seem more focused.

The whole 1 city thing didn't bother me so much because its pretty much identical to what the first Witcher game did, which I found to be a pretty awesome game in its own right.

Only thing I hated about DA2 was the rehashed maps for quests.  That was just pure lazyness on Bioware's part.

I do admit, I didn't buy the game at release so I am not privvy to any bugs on release.

I enjoyed DA2. Granted I would have loved more areas to explore but over all I enjoyed playing it. Which I did many many times at least until I finally relented and let my daughter borrow it, lol.

I'm in the "DA2 was a not particularly good game which I nevertheless enjoyed quite a lot" club.

And possibly also the "DA2 could have been a very good game" club.

What did you not specifically like about it?

I don't find the "It's not DAO" a particularly solid argument.

I like DA2 myself. Sure it had some issues, the big one for me being recycled maps, but on the whole i enjoyed it.

Never really had an issue with its ending myself, sure its not the best ending it could have had but at least it made sense and was relevant to the games narrative.

Personally i think a lot of the flack it got was because of the "it wasnt DAO" argument.

Let me put it this way if there was no DAO and DA2 had just been released by Bioware (and ignoring any current issues folks have with ME3) would people still brand it a bad game?

Pretty much this. It was rushed and had its share of problems but I still had a blast on all my playthroughs.

But 'Its nothing like DA:O' is a particualarly strong argument.

There's nothing wrong with the concepts that Dragon Age 2 draw upon, except their massively rushed implementation, other than many are in complete opposition of many things that made DA:O a spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate's era.

I played DA:O once for each Origin then a few more times. I suffered through DA2 once and never wanted to see Kirkwall and it's blandness ever again.

I might as well put my name on the list since DA2 made me play DA:O just to know what the hell the blight was about and what went on in Awakenings to see for myself the change in Anders.
Still I played DA2 because I got sneaked attacked into liking the characters Aveline and Fenris. One my Hawke can romance(cause its Balthier's voice) and the other I wish I could romance as M!Hawke cause Im a sucker for strong red headed warrior women.

Just wished they didn't rush the game and spent another year or two polishing it up.

I hate DAII. There are very few qualities about it that I like.

It's rather how the great and solid concepts for the game were not utilized to their fullest potential that makes me hate it. The game had great concepts, but failed to make them work IMO.

Poor combat encounter design - ubiquitous waves and lack of variety in enemies leads to everything being a bit too similar.  Bad Act 3, particularly if you're a mage supporter.  And various minor issues that add up to a lack of polish.

What I like about it is mostly the party members.

I'm in this club but still really enjoyed the game and like it regardless. Just annoys me how much better the game could have been, alas.

To say its nothing like DAO I find particularly misleading.

It uses the same base game design.  Same base technical design.  Same base Bioware RPG model.

I can wrap my arms around stuff like, "Kirkwall is a bland city" or "Character design is shoddy."  These are arguble points that may have some merit.  But broad brush strokes that discredit the game entirely are faulty.

I don't know how often I have heard the phrase, "Dragon Age 2 isn't a Dragon Age game".  I mean, that would be a suitable argument if the Dragon Age series had several instalments and followed the exact same formula.  But upuntil DA2, there has only been one other installment to draw from.

I love DA2, but I love it almost as much for what it tried to do than for what it did. It is a sea of wasted potential, and that galls me. However, hopefully DA3 can be as polished as can be and will not suffer the same flaws, ro at least less of them. I will miss Hawke, though, because Hawke was kinda awesome.

I actually love all three of them... For wildly different reasons, admittedly. Well, DAO and DA2 less different.

DA2 was okay but it didn't live up to the hype that it created and was a rushed and unpolished game. It needed more work, it needed to live up to the hype which it failed to do. So it was a okay or mediocre game.

I enjoyed it a lot. I think part of my enjoyment is that I didn't pay any attention to any of the promotional material leading up to release at all. The reason I bought it was entirely because a friend said "Hey, Dragon Age 2 is coming soon. If you preorder, you get some added goodies" and I said "Oh, ok."

It's a good game, It could have been much worse. I enjoyed getting resources and getting the Ta Da sound. Am I too easy to please? I love that sound.  Oh and I loved the experience points I got with them.

With development time and effort, it could have been incredible. It had some glaring issues, but I loved playing it to the point I find DA:O boring whenever I go back to play it.

I liked DA2 and generally approved of most of the changes and where they were trying to go with it. Unfortunately there was a lot of unrealized potential and some blunders which were very disappointing. I would hope that if they had more time it could have been a much better product, to par with DAO in terms of completeness, cohesiveness, polish.
