DAII was OK, but I think the game mechanics is too WoW-ish. A few bosses have about one million hit points which is ridiculous and extremely repetitive. DAO's game mechanics has its problems but BioWare should really use their brains to fix it, and not rely on this kind of lazy fix.

I really enjoyed it. Obviously there were things that could have been done better but overall it was a great experience.

I liked it.

Saw a lot of potential which unfortunately remained unexplored, which I hope will be in DA3.

I liked Dragon Age 2.
In fact, I liked it a lot.

There are a few thing that I didn't enjoy but it has many improvement over Dragon Age: Origins, with the sole exception of the ending (the hole act3.. what. a .piece. of. ...).

The combat is better, the characters are better, the graphics are better, the gear and stats are better, and I like that Hawke is actually voice-acted.
To me, DA2 is far better than Origins.
Also in DO:O you have to babysit every companion. Tell them what they want to hear otherwise they'll hate you, fight you and leave. In DA2 I made Isabella change her personality a bit, now she's not a ♥♥♥♥♥ anymore. Yes you can do that in real life and in good games.

The story is very inteligent, makes you think about everything.

The combat is awesome and very fun if you play on hard. (not recomended for first playthrough) Totally in love with mages and rogues this round.

It appears to me that most people that downrate this game would be happier if there was an Expansion pack for Origins, with the same boring combat and all that. I'm glad DA evolved to this.

Hawkes story isn't all that unique.. just cleverly disguised as a person trying to make a living which isn't that great of a story considering most of the game is spent doing errand quests. but not DAIIs quests of the typical run of the mill MMO Errand quests.

I understand the eternal "saving the world" stereotype and to me this is what was mssing from da2 story, a RPG really needs an EPIC component. I mean you don't level up, buy nasty swords, learn super spells to end up playing an "average joe"! If you want to play an average joe, there are games like Sims 3 or Farming Simulator 2! Leave the average joes out of our beloved RPGs lol!

And of course I didn't think Hawke was gonna stay the "average joe" for very long. Basically, it felt this whole game was just a setup for the sequel/ expantion but that didn't happen. I feel Bioware didn't really do something different than usual stop the story of one character, jump to another and do the samething.. can we actually FCKING FINISH ONE OF THE STORIES? yes thats all i fcking ask ,thanks!

If anyone wonder why Bioware should continue one character story, check the FORUM people don't see the warden going thru the mirror as a finished story, people don't see the warden running away to the sunset with his/her Li as finished story, having Multiple characters telling a tale of thedas is great BUT there is a flaw ( people), people get attach to things thats why is hard form most us to let go when we feel attachment to a character or a place.

Noun: attachment - a feeling of affection for a person or an institution attachment - a feeling of affection for a person or an institution
fond regard affection, affectionateness, philia, warmness, warmheartedness, fondness, tenderness, heart - a positive feeling of liking; exemple: " Alistair won my heart and I can't wait to rule with him"
in reallity not one can help Alistair to rule Ferelden but it doens't matter the real thing is to continue playing with Alistair because thats with what I feel attached to.

With hawke is the samething but to me it went way more personal to a level that i really felt connected to it and it has this roller coaster feeling that make it so exciting and it just not dreamign to stay with alistair but "can I keep playing as Mage-hawke and show Theadas that a ferelden mage can do grand but good things?" I guess not.

well i dnt liked the "maps"
but the characters i met there in the main storys yeah liked them
the graphic looks better than origins but the fighting style is a no-go for origins heads, i think
from badass roleplaying game to action.roleplaying game...
dnt liked that hackNslash style as warrior and rogue
but the gameplay of the mage is very good and i never play mage =)
i say the game is 55% good maybe 60% but still play the game to get my two last trophies romantic and supplier

Huntress I agree with you that DA2's story was very intelligent. The basics were very good in my opinion but because of the intelligence it made people curious about the things that were happening in the game. This is where the storytelling failed; if you start something finish it. They didn't finish a lot of issues that where adressed to in the story.

DA2 hit a sweet spot for me. I probably wouldn't have played Origins if I hadn't been enticed by the prospect of affecting the history of Thedas in DA2.

It's not perfect, of course, but I preferred it over Origins and I'm happy with the "direction" it is moving the Dragon Age IP towards.

/joins others in crying over how Hawke's story will remain incomplete

I liked DA2, especially the story. I think the writers did an excellent job. I played the game twice, once as a bleeding-heart male mage and a second time as a bad ass, take no crap two-handed axe wielding female warrior. Playing the game with two characters with different personalities made me truly appreciate how well the writing was done.

Also, the voice acting was very well done!! No wonder Varric is a fan favorite. Varric Rules!!!

The combat had its pluses and minuses for me. It was more fun initially, however, after a while I did miss a bit of the pause and think out strategy that was involved in DA1. Initially, I did defend Bioware’s obvious cheap short cut of spawning new mob waves from thin air, however, I did very much appreciate their much improved approach to this in the subsequent DLCs. However, I wish they would improve enemy AI. Fighting wave after wave all the time made me think it was a cheap way to lengthy an easy battle because the enemy AI was not that great.

Inventory maintenance was much improved over DA1. Although, I would like a bit more control over gearing my followers.

I really did not mind playing in only one city. I think it worked well with the story. However, I really and truly hated having to traverse the same dungeons over and over and over again. And I can draw out every inch of the Wounded Coast by memory….ugghhh

The DLCs were excellent and restored my hope that Bioware learned their lesson in cutting corners. DLC writing and acting was excellent as usual and the combat was slightly improved. A bit more strategy was involved, mob placement and new mob waves made more sense. No random spawning from thin air. However, I would still like the enemies to have better AI and be more challenging on their own rather than having more hit points and just having more of them to fight in any one battle.

Short Soap Box rant: The recent Mass Effect ending fiasco has me a bit worried about Bioware gaming future and I have yet to open my collecter’s edition and play. Bioware had built a loyal fan base because in the past they have released quality games that you always knew would be better than anything else out there. This is also why the backlash has been so intense with DA2 and Mass Effect 3. We expect and know Bioware can do much better and are worried that they may have lost that mojo. Hopefully, the last year has been some hard lessons learned and Bioware will come out much stronger with DA3. End of Rant.

Anyhoot, in summary, overall I actually liked DA2 better than DA1 and the DA2 DLC were my favorite DLCs of any Bioware series so far. (well, maybe I should also lump “Shadow Broker” in there). However, please finish the Morrigan/god child story!!! Even if it is in comic book form…hint hint. *crossed fingers*

DA 2 is a flawed but still enjoyable game, defintely worth the 60 bucks I spent on it as I have done multiple playthroughs since.

I liked both dragon age origins and dragon age 2. Dragon age 2 obviously took less time to make but in the end with it's flaws there were also improvements. I would also like to give a vote of approval to DA2's DLC, really set a precedent on how dlc should be made.... With tlc.

I really enjoyed playing both Dragon Age games. I was definitely pleasantly surprised when I first played Dragon Age II and saw how fast-paced the combat as compared to DA:O. But I think it was awesome nonetheless. I think in order for DA3 to be successful, they need to find a balance between DA:O and DA2. There were definitely elements that could have been improved in both games but to completely write off DA2 as horrible is a little extreme. From what I have been reading in statements from Bioware, I am very hopeful that they are heading in the right direction for making DA3 epic for everyone.

I guess that because I had played Origins at least 10 times, trying out every origin, all the dlcs, and really enjoying the game, I at last began to tire of it. I was happy when Awakening came along. which continued my Warden's existence, even though the setting was different. I played that game 4 times, using different characters from Origins, but again I was waiting for something new.

When DA2 came out I pre ordered it and even though I knew it wasn't a continuation of the Warden's story, I was happy to have a new Bioware game. I liked it the first time I played it, maybe partly because I was really burnt out on the Warden, and because I finally got to play a Mage the way I thought it should have been played in DA:O. I really didn't like the slowness of being a mage in that game, and I loved playing one in DA2.

Because I had stayed with the Origins universe for so long I was ready to give DA2 a chance, and liked it from the start. I liked the npcs, the romances, the banter, the dialogue wheel, where I could finally see my Hawke's face, not just her back when talking. I liked most of the main quests, and some of the side quests... not all, but I have never scrutiniized any game I've played, just lto look for flaws.

All games have flaws, some minor, some fatal,  DA2's flaws, were noticable, but not game breaking, imo. They didn't bother me enough to spoil the game for me. I can understand some people's disappointment that DA2 wasn't a sequel  to Origins, but I never expected it to be, since we were told early on that it wouldn't continue the Warden's story.

I will always think of DA2,  as one of my favorite Bioware games, and can't wait for DA3!

I love Dragon Age 2, and I guess since I read all the articles that the Warden story was over. and the games were going focus on the age and nto the game. then I was expecting to see the warden in the game. There were only two flaws in the game that I did not like. i did not if you were a blood mage, then it did not really change the game and going back to the same places was a bit tedious. I think it would have been all right if the places had change over time, but they didn't.
I really enjoyed Dragon Age 2, I think it is a great game. I like the politics,
The one thing I could not stand was in Dragon Age: Origins, some of the missions were so long.and only a few of them had spmething to grab you.

Overall, I enjoyed DA2 in spite of its flaws. Some changes were for the better, there were still some things from DA:O I missed.

Every complaint levelled at this game is absolutely true. Yet, that did not stop me from finishing it twice, with DLC. I had a blast playing it, and the party members are some of the most memorable in any Bioware game. I truly hope for some more DLC, and was very disheartened to hear of the expansion that was cancelled.

Yeah lets hope bioware doesn't bring any of the possible hawke lovers to da3.. gosh i'll freak out if they do such a thing again, I think is enough that leliana left the warden...in whatever the hell place she is now, thank!. If bringing old companion is a must, then it should be varric or Aveline. After mark of the assasin i think Aveline could be more that what she thinks she is or what everyone also thinks.

Agree, if any of the LI's from DA2 do come back please lets not have them romanceable, especially Isy.  My M!Hawke's, most of them have hooked up with her and as far as my endings, they stay together.  Anders is the same way with my F!Hawke's.

Agreed. No games can be perfect. Reused maps and stupid combats can be overlooked if reused maps change slightly from time to time(to make it harder for us to notice) and combats are not pain in the ass.

All I care about is plots, and DA2 was ok with that. Certainly not better than DA:O because even with a plot that is full of cliche, DA:O still had a better story telling than DA2.
