N7 Armor: Why must one of the best looking Armor Sets be so useless?

And no, I can't mod to use the Armor with other stats. *points to sig*

The other choices just fit each class better. I personally use N7 + Kassa armor on my soldier. Shields and health. I don't really need extra damage or ammo. I get those from my weapon mods. I just need more shields and health to survive insanity ;P

I really like the Serrice Council and Hahne-Kedar armor sets. They're my favorite sets for my Adept and Soldier builds respectively.
The serrice council stuff does look good - I tend to wear Serrice shoulder plates and Rosenkov chestplate/gloves/greaves, makes for a good mix of power damage and recharge.
I did wear the mnemonic visor early on but switched back to my old Kuwashii visor, nice to have a bit of extra weapon damage.
Hahne-Kedar, though - I dunno, it looks bit more Star Wars than Mass Effect to me. Looks a bit archaic.

TBH the same can be said for all the armour types I mean adding 10% damage sucks when you 1 hit 70% without it and the rest take 2-3 shots with or without.

I wouldn't call it useless personally. Once the shields are down it boosts how long you live till they recharge. And the boost is substantial.

You can NEVER have enough damage... at least not until the enemies spontaneously burst into flames when you walk in the room and go into convulsions when you squint at them.

I'm still a big believer in it though. Running around with +30% from armor and +20% from squadmates.

My FemShep envies Ash's armor though, that one looks really good.

Hahne-Kedar set with Capacitor Helmet and Defense Matrix as bonus power makes your character a tank and nearly unkillable short of instakills or getting nailed in between cooldowns when you can't purge DM for the instant shield restore.

Funny, they do EXACTLY that when playing my Engineer/Adept respectively

What doesn't make much sense to me is, in what universe by adding extra armor pieces would it decrease your health? Why even bother finding new parts if they are going to decrease the efficency of your basic N7 armor.
The 'increased health' is just the game's way of showing you that the armour in question provides more physical protection. The other parts focus on other stuff - its not so much 'decreased efficiency' as using the same space to enhance other stats, such as extra power cells rather than heavy ablative plating.
