it is because the reapers won, wiped out the civilized advance societies and the stargazer is a different race (thus the looks maybe asari, maybe human). They have found the time capsules left by Liara and are not yet able to travel in space. So "The Shepard" is a mythological figure to them at that time.

The ending is (as I think) you die at the reaper blast, everything after is your mind allowing you to let go and move on (including the space magic) and the last gasp if you have 5k EMS. The Reapers finish the cycle and the Stargazer is the NEXT cycle.

Nothing about this said half Asari/Half human.

Please, reread the text. It says it might look a little bit Asari, maybe a little bit human. The silhouettes of both are almost identical. People are reading waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much into this
