Gay Sheps have Taylor/Cortez.

What do straight Sheps have if they aren't an ME2 import?  It doesn't seem a fresh ME3 Shep can romance Ash/Liara/Kaiden, or at least I haven't managed it.  Ditto for Garrus/Tali.

As far as I can tell(Looking at the wiki)
A new character can romance Cortez(Male), Traynor(Female), Ashley(male), Kaidan(Both) and Liara(Both). I have tried finding clips on youtube for you real quick, but to no avail.

Interesting. If there's a way to activate those romances (Liara/Kaiden/Ash) in a fresh game I haven't found it.

They all have a certain scene when you can get "locked in" their romance. However, those scenes do happen at different points of the game - for example, you can easily get locked in Cortez' romance before Kaidan returns (if you want a gay romance). Also, Ashley returns at the same point like Kaidan, that means, you could have get locked in a romance with Liara first ...

Just check out if you got locked in a romance.

If the "locked in" convo for Liara is early-ish, I must have missed it. I've already had a talk on the Citadel where she says something along the line of "you're a good friend" after she talks about missing her mother or some such.

At least Samantha is straight forward, my FemShep had zero problems hooking up with her my 1st playthrough. MaleShep is doomed to continue having lonely nights it seems.
