minuskeith> Thanks for the heads up!

I hope EA / Bioware are reading these threads regarding controller support!

Free Extended Cut DLC, Free Resurgence DLC..... But NO update for controller support, this is easier than doing new cinematics or new maps or new weapons etc.

I have no faith anymore in EA / Bioware!

Fact: The XBOX Controller button codes natively exists in the PC version of all three Mass Effect games.

Since the first game came out fans requested gamepad support, BUT Bioware and EA is simply ignoring the fans by not implementing this essential and very simple mechanic to the game.  My question to the developers is just at least give us a reasonable answer?

Someone added a few lines of code to ME2, and it added full native support, minus a few icons. A few people are doing the same here.

I hope they get it done. Hell, I'd toss them a couple of dollars if they finish the game before BioWare does.

Good find wookiepelt but I want EA / Bioware to officially do this as im sick and tired of them not listening to the fans!

I tried using my PS3 controller and a program MotioninJoy to play. There's just something wrong with the way it feels, like Shepard is "sliding" whenever he moves. You can try using that if you want to.

Sadly, I don't think Bioware will add a gamepad support, like how they didn't add it back on ME and ME2. It would be nice if they did though.

I think Bioware have bigger things to worry about like sound and mutiplayer issues, if you want to use a controller then buy an Xbox 360 or use third party software.

Mass Effect 2 works nearly perfect with the Xbox controller on Windows once you copy the coalesced.ini file. Everything works except the weapon & power wheel don't show up, but you can still select via tooltip. But beyond that the dual stick control is perfect, almost all icons on screen are replaced with the appropriate xbox controller buttons. That's how I'm playing the game right now.

The code for this to work exists in ME3 on the PC, they just need to spend a little developer & QA time enabling it officially.

I spoke with a friend who works at Bioware, hopefully he'll pass along the request to the ME3 team lead and they'll bump this up on their priority list. I'm not holding my breath though, they've been asked to do this for the last four and a half years and haven't said a word about it.

To all the controller haters who keep telling people to "buy an xbox" or "use keyboard & mouse", go away, this doesn't concern you. Not everybody is the same. I like playing PC games on my big screen TV while relaxing on my couch with a controller in hand, and my PC does far superior graphics than an Xbox as well.

splitpeasoup> Thank you! Atleast you know how people with big screen HDTV's like to game away on a couch with a controller! I did not spend thousands of my hard earned money on a gaming PC to go and buy an Xbox to play a game with a controller!

Nearly all the games that come out for the PC format have controller support but Bioware thinks different even though they are working with EA who do include controller support on other titles in their catalogue?! All action games should have controller support, I understand games like e.g Star Wars The Old Republic need to be keyboard & mouse based but any other games that can get away with using the amount of keys available on a controller should support both types of playing methods!

I'm not sure if BioWare cares or if the reps on these forums pass along these requests.   There's at least 20 threads on these forums asking about controller support and the only response I've seen from a BioWare rep was that this is "not a PC technical issue" and they closed the thread.

To BioWare - This is a PC specific issue - If this does not belong in this forum where should we post these requests?  How do we get the message to the people that can implement this that the PC community would like controller support?

Please let us know!

Yeah I'm all about PC gaming from the couch for games like this.  I've got a 46" screen, 7.1 surround sound (ME2 only does 5.1 surround though - why?) and am currently playing through Mass Effect 2 with the modified coalessed.ini file.  This game runs at well over 60fps constantly at 1080p with all detail settings turned to max, it's glorious.   Why would I want an Xbox when my i5-2500k with a Sapphire 6950 2gb video card blows the doors off that 6 year old console.

I'm holding off on playing through ME3 until this issue gets a better solution.   The modified coalessed.ini file works great for ME2 with only a couple quirks like the weapon/power wheel and lack of rumble, but it doesn't detrack from the game.  If BioWare comes out and says they'll implement it (it probably took them as much development time segmenting the xbox controls UI in the game as it would have for them to just leave it in and make it work on the PC), or if someone can figure out how to modify the new coalessed.ini file for ME3 I'll play it.
