I find it interseting as I follow those who like and dislike the ending. It feels as though, those who liked the ending did not play the other games (not all of them, but generally speaking) and those who did not like the ending were those who played the other games (also same condition)

I am interested to see how many responses I get. Please be civil about this, I am just curious with 2 questions.

1. Did you play Mass Effect 1, 2 or both before Mass Effect 3?
2. Did you like the ending?

I played all three games and I liked the ending. There is so single factor that separates people on this issue other than individual taste.

1. Yes, played all three and have clocked in over 200+ hours. (Not including more future playthroughs)
2. No, I did not. To many plot holes and the current ending goes against the core of Mass Effect.

Ps3 gamer here, so the closest i got to me1 was thru the comic found in me2. Yep, ive played both me2 and me3 and my favorite ending (so far) is the destroy + 4k or more ems ending; one big reset button courtesy of shepard and the catalyst.

1) Yes. All of them.

2) Not really. I'm an indoctrination believer, which is a "trick" worthy of BioWare's mastermind genius. This being the real endings is not. I think because it's been such a long trek for those of us who've played since the beginning, we've got so much invested in what's going to happen that the endings were just devestating. To have every choice you've made build up to this; all the character relationships, the impacts you've made on species and race relations, etc. I mean, this "story" has taken 5 years in the telling. That's a long time to wait and a lot of hours put in to building up relationships and plots and foundations for future battles only to have it all mean nothing. I haven't even had real life  relationships that have lasted 5 years yet.

I finished ME1 8 times, at least I have 8 end game saves with different results. ME2 - 5 times. ME3 - 1. Do I have to say that ending was a little bit disappointing for me? and stopped me from replaying it?

1. Yes.  Both before each new one came out.
2. Hell no.  Terrible writing, deux ex machina, lame choices, lazy cutscenes ... total botch job.

1. Yes, completionist for ME1 and ME2, and I actually listened to each conversation.
2. Yes, I hated the ending. I would have accepted any ending, but the current ending is just cheap.

1. Yes, 16 Sheps from ME1 made it to ME2, 13 Sheps made it from ME2 to ME3, Completed 2 ME3 playthroughs...and that's enough for now.

2. No, plotholes, dialogue, marauder shields etc

Interesting, it seams so far to trend that one of the biggest factors in the split of those who liked vs. disliked is who played the 1st mass effect game..I am sort of surprised how large of an impact that has had on people.

Yes, I played ME1-3 ever since launch day 2007.
No, I cannot stand the endings. I hate how open ended they are and how little they explain, in addition to throwing away the countless hours I've spent righting the galaxy's wrongs as though they never happened.

Mass Effect really was an intersting cultural phenomenon. The more games people have played (outside the comic books) the more likely they are to hate the ending, while it seams like the less shepard experience that was had, the more it trends in the other direction.

The reason I made this thread was to kind of test a theory have on those who liked vs. disliked the ending. Essentially speaking the ending was a great ending for a stand alone game, however for something that has spanned over 3 games with loose ends in all 3 (where really only 1 game gets those threads tied off) it creates a cultural sitgma about the game. However, not being exposed to as much of those loose ends, its less likely in those with less experience in the game.
