Liara's singularity and pull abilities work wonders against the guardians.

Since when does Liara have Pull?

I worded that poorly.  I meant pull and Liara's singularity.

I found mass effect 2 to be pretty easy. Part 3 was a whole different story, especially the boss battle with KL which was brutal to me. The academy one was easy once I found a good cover to take shots. Advice would be to not play on soldier, it's hard.

Soldier is not the best class in the game for insanity... and it's also very boring. :)
Adept, Vanguard, Sentinel and Engineers are all good. I still need to try infiltrator.
Hell, Vanguard was so easy that I had to end that playthrough... all was charge, nova, nova repeat.
Boring as hell.

Thanks for all the advise guys. I was playing a Vanguard with Vega and EDI. Once I figured out you can lift the shields out of the Guardians hands It became pretty cake. Im starting to get better at handling Insanity on ME3 now as well. I think it was just a matter of getting used to the system.

I've beaten ME3's insanity, like a week ago. The only hard part for me was the Kai Leng fight. I had to run in circles , just to keep him away from me. Not to mention how annoying it was to watch that intro boss movie of Kai Lang. I died at least 15 times, each time watching that intro movie. I knew the Liara is a must on this level. Liara is helpfull in dealing with those unshielded enemies that came in.

Also , the last mission where you had to wait for the missile launcher to get started , the part just before the run to the beam.

Well if Grissom Academy is one of the hardest areas on insanity I guess I am set. I breezed through that today with my level 59 Infiltrator. I use Liara and James mostly just because James seems to fill the tank role without a krogan. My shep I only use the sniper...Widow at level 10 with a few upgrades and warp ammo. It just destroys everything...I can put down an atlas in only a few shots.

That area of the academy I just bunkered down right out the door...kept going invisible and taking out the engineers as fast as I could because those turrents just destroy crap in this game. I think the worst part about insanity in this game is the grenades...you constantly have to move. I had no issues with insanity in ME2, it was easy as hell really. There is areas of this game I am not looking forward to with insanity difficulty but if all you are saying this part is one of the most challenging then well maybe I am wrong but we'll see how it goes!

how about the reaper base on tuchanka? i've just got to the reaper u fight on foot. i can get the first 3 shots off but that last one where it gets all super close to ya it's like the damn laser takes forever to narrow down and of course i die everytime. any suggestions? this fight by far has been the most frustrating on insanity.

ok so i just beat it. took me about 5 or 6 times but i saw what i needed to do. damn that was hard.

Grissom academy atrium is one of the toughest fights in the game. i think it took me about an hour to beat it with my sentinel, and less than 5 minutes on my vanguard. so it definitely depends on the class. for that section, i like to take the ramp and kill the engies quickly.

that being said, i agree that ME3's insanity is a lot more challenging and fun. in ME2, i found it impossible to die and i facerolled through every encounter.

The only thing frustrating for me on Insanity was never knowing where grenades were. Those damn warning indicators were misleading as hell and had me running into grenades that weren't even near me more often than they had me run away from them.

That and instant turret death, but being an Engineer really cut that down a lot.

In my opinion Insanity is a joke in ME3 especially compared to the Gold matches in multiplayer (which arent that hard either). I had more difficulty in ME2 when I first(!) played it. In ME3 you can dodge and roll and most enemies dont have shields/barriers/armor like in ME2. If you want to totally destroy the game you can play as an Adept and biotic detonate everuthing. Or you could just bring James with Squad Incendiary Ammo and Garrus with Damage and Assault Rifle Damage and give them both the Particle Rifle with Incendiary Ammo and sit back and do nothing while they annihilate everything for you. Very boring...
