I am unable to defeat this character. My party is made up of Sten, Morrigan, Alistar and myself as a city elf warrior level 17. I keep getting killed by his swarm spell before I can get to him. Any help is appreciated.

Use the winters grasp or cone of cold if morriganis equipped with it.This should give you some time to get close enuff to wail on the genlock.

As soon as his minions spawned, I ran all 4 party members back and around a corner, and took out most of the shades without engaging him. Then I chained knockdowns and stuns to do most of my damage. Horror seemed to work well on him, though crushing prison did not.Sprit and nature resist gear and potions are a big help, because he has some nasty spirit and nature attacks.

The important thing is not to fight him with the shades hitting you in the back at the same time. They do surprisingly good damage. Backtrack around a corner to deny the conjurer line of sight, and deal with them first.

In your party, I'd have Sten and Alistair alternate shield bash and pummel strike, and save their stamina so they can keep him down I don't know what set-up your Morrigan has, but save her mana or use potions to just unload on him. Death Hex + the other death spell works well for a melee heavy party, because you'll give them all crits and then follow up with a huge nuke.

Also, if you can't be bothered to actually fight him, Mana Clash pretty much just blows him up.

A party of 3 warriors and a mage is thrash but w/e...

Force line of sight, round them all up nice and tight and GO FOR THE EYES!
