How do I unlock armor pieces using Gibbed? Haven't seen it in the long gibbed info thread which is devoted mostly to making your eyes pretty .

Please anyone with knowledge reply.

You need to download the coalesced.bin editor from gibbed site.  You then need to proceed to playercustomisation (use find). Here you will see tabbs for armappearance, torsoappearance, legappearance etc.  Open these.

Now there are 2 ways of doing this.  Completely removing the PlotId flag numbers to -1.  (Example - PlotId=122221 is now PlotId=-1).  This will unlock every piece of armour in the game for you, however when the game is patched, this will probably be rewritten, so you will have to make the changes again. Plus there is the chance that you can make a mistake, which will screw it up, making the armor unavailable.  Making a backup of your coalesced.bin is advised.

If you don't feel comfortable with modding the coalesced.bin file then write down the PlotId numbers.  Then boot up your save editor, load a save, click on raw and then expand Plot.  You want bool entries.  Open this.  Now search for the PlotId numbers (Don't worry if it takes a while to load all the PlotId's, especially if you have imported a save from ME1 & ME2 - there are allot of entries) The value of these PlotId will either be True or False.  Set the Id's to true, and the armor will be unlocked.  Save the changes to a save and then load it.

If your having troubles, send me a message and I will get back to you.

Good Luck

Yes, just open the fullbodyhelmetappearances and swap out the mesh for another piece of equipment.  Gimme a few mins and I will post a screenshot of my modifications via editing the models for my shep.

As you can see, I replaced the helmet with the Kuwashi Visor model.  You can also replace the models for the various bits or armor with the defender/inferno/dragon etc model as well, just make sure to delete the model for the arms, legs and shoulders and replace the chestpiece with the item set model of your choice, as the models for the individual pieces will clip into the full model of the unique armor.

Eg: (Mesh=(Male="",Female="") -  this will stop the game from rendering the model for that specific piece of armor (arms, legs etc) .

To change for instance the serrice council chestpiece to the defender armor you need to swap (Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.SHPc.HMM_ARM_SHPc_Slv_MDL",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.SHPc.HMF_ARM_SHPc_Slv_MDL")

to

(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.FBDa.HMM_ARM_FBDa_MDL",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.FBDa.HMF_ARM_FBDa_MDL")

NOTE: That you cannot change helmets into visors via model swapping, this is due to some code in the game itself, which I am yet to find as yet.

I hope this has helped some aspiring modders out there, however I haven't found how to swap weapon models out just yet (work in progress) as I want to swap the avenger and predator models used in cutscenes with the revenant and carnifex, as it kills emersion in my opinion to have shepard magically have a weapon she doesn't have equipped appear in her hand.

If you need a hand, let me know B)

Thank you! This thread needs to remain on front page! Far more useful than all those threads talking about the story or endings that dont even belong in this section...

Yep, found that, and was about to post it. Also, FAQ from GIbbed here: code.google.com/p/me3tools/wiki/FAQ

Do you know how to replace the Inferno Armor meshes with the BDA meshes? Or better yet, how about switching the stats?

Why thank you! :D Its nice to know my work is appreciated, and Yes, I agree 100% with the second part of this post.  I have contacted Jessica Merizan to see if we can get a new forum for ME3 Modding and Fan Creations like the ME2 forums had as I am sick of projects and other work being swarmed by trolls and whiners.

With the meshes, just use the tutorial I posted above, and change the models of the Inferno Armor with thoses of the Blood Dragon Armor.

Now, in terms of item stats, this can get a bit hairy. For the itemsets, you can only add the bonuses from other itemsets.  You can't add individual effects like on the custom armor.  To add the stats you need to find the
(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMM_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMF_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL"),GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_Inferno"),Id=7,Name=352047,Description=352048,PlotFlag=20985,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)

If you want to add the BloodDragon armor stats simply swap the SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_Inferno to  SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_BloodDragon.  Or you could simply put a comma between them and add  both the effects to this set of armor :)

Eg:
(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMM_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMF_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL"),GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_Inferno,SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_BloodDragon"),Id=7,Name=352047,Description=352048,PlotFlag=20985,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)

You can add all the item set bonus if you wish, they will all stack.  You cannot add all the bonuses to the individual part armor like the n7.  The descriptions will update but the bonuses are restricted to 2 per piece.  This is due to another line of code in the core game files that I have yet to find.  But fear not, I will track the bugger down!

Nah its easier to do when its written out for you, besides I live in australia, and our internet is super lame, so even if I did a video, would probably take me around 2 hours just to upload it :)

Can this be done on the XBOX as well?!
I read your post on how to make it, but I still don't understand the wizardry behind it. Could you help me with a bit more "user friendly" explanation? Posted Image

Thanks!

Yeah that's my beef with it too. it makes me mad. It looks good with the N7 breather, but for some reason they only put the stupid open one on it. I dont see why the custom sets don have helmet toggles, its bloody annoying

Yeah, there a few things in the Mass Effect series that are pretty damn annoying.

it kinda doesn't make sense that your squad has a "Default off" which if you chose, removes the helmets and eye prorifials(sp) off in combat completely in most situations, unless in area that requires them to wear it and shep doesn't. I was looking forward to wearing the N7 Defense armor as I thought it would be customizable (ala helmet optional shown in ads) I have an xbox so I can't even put other prorifials (sp) like the one pictured above (which would be a good trade off) i really wish BW would have given that option not just in conversation.....:( but on the positive side maybe they;ll make an N7 defense armor customizable loot in a N7 challenge weekend soon....for every ten headshots on silver or higher, get a set of customizable armor (Terminus, N7 Defense, Inferno etc) for your single player shep..... thus doing away with helmets
