So I can't play offline if I have DLC installed...?

Am I the only one with this problem? There was an Internet outage today, and I happened to boot up Mass 3; Origin loaded fine, asked me for a re-authorization for offline mode, and the game launched. But when it finally stopped trying to contact EA servers (what was it even doing that long without an Internet connection? =P) up jumped a message informing me that I'm unable to resume my game because, apparently, From Ashes can not be authorized. And I've noticed that said DLC authorization HAS popped up every time I boot up the game. Is this a bug, or do DLC customers get the short end of the stick here...?

Thanks in advance.

I have the EXACT same problem so i said screw it and deleted it from my Mass Effect 3 game, I feel that this DRM on the DLC is not only a punishment toward legitimate customers but the DLC is pointless to have if you're not constantly on the internet! The other thing is if you have From Ashes and you want to get it off your system or disable it, EA is the only one who can disable it and you can't enable it unless you contact them again, you can't enable/disable your own legally purchased content, it's false advertising

Same thing happens to me (unless I'm already playing when the internet cuts out, then I just gotta make sure to use the LOCAL save when starting again. Lost a good 4 hours first day I played because of that).

I've seen this problem too, one way around this I've found is to:
1) close Origin (make sure its not just hidden in the bottom right hand side where the clock is)
2) disconnect from internet (which you already are)
3) start Origin in offline mode (it will detect no internet and start in offline mode anyway)
4) launch ME3, it should all work except multiplayer

Thats the way round that I've found, though BioWare should patch the DLC DRM so its not this stupid to work around!

aerowars, I launched Origin AFTER the outage and it automatically launched in offline mode (it isn't set to booting up along with Windows if that's what you're saying). I'll try disconnecting from the Internet manually though, I need to know if there's a workaround for this. Thanks everyone.

i hate it when people say to use that workaround because it never works for me or any of my friends

It... Just did for me. But only when I physically unplugged the Internet cord from my computer. If I disable it any other way, the game tries and fails DLC authorization and denies game access.

What the heck...

Well, at least I know it works for me.

Origin, for whatever reason, cannot tell the difference between a local network and a network with internet access.

If you want to make sure it does not attempt to authorize DLC or connect to EA's servers, make sure your connection is either *disabled* or unplugged.

As long as your computer has an IP address, Origin will assume you are connected to the internet.

Hope this helps, it should be resolved with future updates to Origin.

Got it, thanks. So I guess that's the trick; manual connection termination.
