If Bioware corrects the ending, how would you feel about the whole thing?

If they actually managed to pull this off and give us additional endings that are actually up to par with the rest of the game, I can't lie I will be pretty damned ecstatic. And it will certainly do wonders for my opinion and faith in Bioware as a company.

That depends on exactly how they fix the ending and whether they get more concerned about thrilling their fans instead of putting out cleverly worded statements aimed at quelling the justified disappointment and keeping the EA stock price up.

How they handle it will define how they listened. There's no way everyone is getting what they wanted but if they manage to deliver on the main points people brought up as problems while keeping the game intact for those who liked the endings, my opinion will be extremely positive.

As the Iron Sheik would say:

Eeeh, defenstrated. YOU SAY IT PARFACK!

Well, my respect of them would go up a lot. At least they admit that the endings aren't really all that they could be and they at least attempted to do something about it.

Now, if they turn out something really good, all the better.

Overjoyed?  Maybe I'll get a "hold the line" tattoo to remember all this by.  In fact, I may do that either way.  If they don't change it, it will remind me every day not to buy any more Bioware products.

Better.

How much better depends on how well the game ends. Two awful, idiotic, reasonless endings is not somehow better than one.

I would be pissed. I liked the endings, and am really disappointed that most people didn't get them. That being said, what really would bother me is now after this game designers won't try to do anything creative anymore and will just give the standard normal generic crap for plots that the lowest common denominator wants. I would feel this way even if I didn't like the endings, because even if I didn't like them I'd be disappointed that Bioware didn't value their own artistic integrity enough to bow to all the plebians, And any revised ending will probably be worse than what came before it. Also I'd be worried that this would set a precedent and whether I liked it or not, that's bad because it would maybe affect things that I did like.

THIS is what Bioware needs to know.  I hope they see this thread.

Every company bows to the plebians.  It's because the plebians spend the money.

Can't un see the ending. But if the new one is good enough. I can go back to playing ME. And supporting the game by buying DLC. At the moment with the current endings...Bioware hasn't proven itself worthy of my $$ because of the ending ):

If they make it better as in actually give proper closure to the series then I would be a happy camper.
If they actually make it worse, well I don't know.

Yeah, but not all of them are stupid about it. There's a differene between making something you think people will like because you think it's good and making something to stop a memetic crowd of internet idiots calling for your head. Let the writers write the damn story, not the public.

Like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and all is right in the world again. XD

Seriously though, they better do it fast. The situation has turned into a powder keg.

Hold the line for as long as it takes.

If they clarify the endings and provide an epilogue, I think it'll be fine.

I'd be pretty happy about the whole affair and would be happiest if they just went the indoctrination theory of course.

Responding to the opening post: I agree. I would actually respect Bioware more than ever, and most likely become a more loyal fan, if that's even possible.
It will show how much they really care about their fanbase. :)

I would feel much better, but still not great.

I finally brought myself to start a second play through after a week
and a half trying to forget the ending, and I'm realizing just how
terrible the side quests are. There has to be close to 100 fetch
quests that don't even have so much as an interactive conversation to
buffer the boredom. Add to that the half dozen loading screens that
are required to go retrieve an item and the flow of what little
motivation there might have been is totally extinguished.

Compare this games side quests to ME1&2 and they fall woefully short. Not
a single quest in ME3 has enough work put into it to have a unique
location in the galaxy. There were dozens - perhaps a hundred
locations between ME1&2 that you would never see just by sticking
to the primary quests. What happened in this game? I would rather no
side quests at all than what we have been given. Completing them
gives no entertainment whatsoever.

Between the poor ending, vast auto dialog, and the worthless side quests, I'm
becoming more and more of the opinion that ME3 was planned to contain
much more content in all aspects, but fell far short in the time
required. One of the most telling flaws that shows the game was
released far from completion is the journal that does not update with
changes in quest parameters. That is a flaw that simply could not be
missed. The only reasonable explanation is that it was given just
barely enough effort that it looks finished at a passing glance. I
believe that is the case for the quests and dialog as well, and that
more interactive conversations and quests were planned, but made
automatic to save time.

If my theory is in fact true, it sure would be nice if BioWare continued
working to release the completed quests and conversations in future
DLC. Even if the ending is entirely remade, it's going to be very
difficult to get myself to complete a new play through that finishes
every side quest. I find myself getting tired of playing and ready to
turn off the console, only to realize I haven't moved forward at all
in the game, but had spent my entire time running around the Citadel
and waiting for loading screens while trying to get up and down each
level of my ship. It feels like doing homework.

Did you really have to go there? Now you just invoked fate.

That was the *exact* same reaction my sister had when I told her about the endings. "Oh come on, they can hardly be worse than Deus Ex: HR." It was just so perfect.

I think i will be pleased, simply because they took notice from their fans and hardcore dedicated fanbase. i think a lot of it, for not just me though but everybody will depend on how they do it and if its any good. but even if it isn't up to 100% standard of what we want it will make me respect them enough to buy another product from them, be it DLC or otherwise, but i will be very cautious about it, that though again depends on what level of quality they provide for it and how much thought they put into it from what the fans have said.

I'm going to be pretty leery from now on. No more pre-orders from them. Although looking at what is on their plate for the future, that isn't exactly saying much (Command and Conquer? From Bioware? Yeah, yeah, I know that their first game was a battletech type game, but that was almost 20 years ago!)

But to a large extent, it will depend upon what they do.

If they do nothing, screw 'em, I'm done.

If they just try to justify themselves with an over priced DLC that doesn't really say anything useful - "you don't get our genius, here, we'll explain it in small words for you!" Then, again, screw 'em, I'm done.

As I've said before, they need my money far more than I need their games.

If they do a half assed and/ or or over priced DLC, well, I'll give them credit for at least a weak attempt. I'll consider getting games that are well received... a year after they come out.

And if they make a serious attempt to give us real endings, well, then I'll just wait to see how people react to a new game that sounds interesting, and if there isn't any huge WTF? problems, then I'll buy it.

I don't like the direction Bioware has been heading, so I'm not holding my breath for positive developments, but I'll let this play out and see. But for now, they are on the "don't trust" list.

What's really depressing? There are really few game companies out there that seem to be worth trusting. Most of them have a release now, patch later (maybe) mentality. Then there is flashy but with crap game play (I won't go on a grumpy old man rant about the good old days with my Amiga or Commodore 64) And this latest trend towards mediocre over priced DLC is troubling as well.

Just hard to find good games any more.
