So Chris Priestly will take the time to lock a thread that calls out the nonsense contained in Jarrett Lee's sticky but can't find the time to post the 'magic' formula that nets 4,000+ EMS on SP alone?
Lame
At least we have this thread, and I suppose some new will pop up. But it is irritating that they are not acknowledging the problem. "We listen to your feedback!" - sure you do...

Well, I've satisfied myself now that it is in fact BS that you can get 4000+ in SP, even with "accumulative" play.
I've just finished a "New Game ++" playthrough, and I'm still short by several hundred points on the EMS.
If you're confused by New ++ it's basicly :-
ME1 > ME2 > ME3 > ME3-NG+ > ME3-NG++
OK, so, after an internal debate that lasted about 15 minutes (seriously), I decided to swallow my stubborn pride and played some MP... after about 10-15 missions (not sure exactly) I'd upped my EMS to just over 5000... and I was able to finally see that 'rubble' ending... not exactly mindblowing, but I felt a little better for it, and least MY Shep was alive at the end.
Still hate the rest of the ending tho', lol.
BTW - for those like me who hate MP and haven't tried it, I suggest that you do, it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be... least I didn't 'meet' any ****s, they all took it seriously.

I did play MP a bit, but got bored quickly... It's just grinding for points, each mission is pretty much the same. But it can be said about almost all MP games.
It's not the point though. They told us there's enough assets in SP, but it's simply not true.

You don't need the extended ending to move into an expanded ending DLC... but if you wanted a clue that the ending wasnt REALLY the end... well there it is.
Its an easter egg.

If the 4,000 EMS is dependent on DLC, then shame on them. If they think for one moment I will buy anything else, they are mistaken. I will be showing my censure with my wallet, but not by buying them cupcakes. I will do so buy not laying down one single dime for a DLC.
It would be nice instead of, “We do not lie, this thread is closed!” to say “We aren't lying, here are the war assets to prove it.” or “We're not lying, we understand this is an issue and we are looking into it.”
btw, I have heard (not sure if true) that some thread got locked because they were telling people how to mod their EMS scores and they considered it cheating. So, maybe that shouldn't be discussed here. I would hate to see this thread closed.
EDIT:
@saintthanksgiving It would still be deceptive considering it has been said many times that you would not have to touch MP at all. You could play SP and still have the same experience. Not to mention, it would be wrong to take something like that (which is a big deal and no doubt they considered it so, or else it wouldn't be the hardest thing to achieve) and make it an “easter egg”. For those who don't have XBL, a fact they are certainly aware of considering they included a two-day pass for it, it's an exclusion that's unfair and a bad business move. And yes, it's completely ridiculous.
@edwardhazelden TMS is not the same as EMS. It is impossible to obtain “over” 5,000 EMS because there isn't “over” 10,000 TMS in the game.

Also some clusters in the Terminus and Attician Traverse seem to be inaccessable. The pointer will indicate that a cluster is there, but there wont be an "Enter System" option. This denies us some War Assets as well.

I could not get to 4000 EMS in a single playthrough of ME3
Contrary to what we have been told, it definitely seems like the unnecessary, unwanted and crummy MP mode is mandatory.

Can you provide a screen shot, please? There's a diference between total War Asset score and Effective Military Score (EMS). War Assets are multiplied by the percentage given from your Galactic Readiness, which then gives you your EMS. Your EMS is what decides the endingedwardhazelden wrote...
I got over 5k without Mp so for me yeah.

Well I don't think deceptive is the right word. Assuming that the "theory" is correct, the extended ending clip is more of a clue than anything else.
Not completing the game with enough EMS to see the clip does not preclude the player from the DLC that the indoctrination theory predicts.... so I think calling it an easter egg isnt unfair.
I'm just saying... I want to believe.

Not really sure about the "unwanted and crummy" part but multiplayer was definitely unnecessary.BeefoTheBold wrote...

I understand. You're keeping hope alive lol. I gotcha.
It is unfair in the fact that for months upon months they knew the dissatisfaction with their base who did not want to participate in MP whether because they couldn't, or because they simple did not want to (which is their prerogative. After all, ME wasn't a MP game and never has been) and because of this, they were very forthcoming with statements as to how you didn't need to worry because MP was completely optional. An alternative. You would not be punished for not playing it.
If they wanted to throw an easter egg in there, great! Do so in a manner that all fans of Mass Effect could obtain it. Make it hard, not impossible. Keep that initial integrity and let your honesty do the speaking for you. Telling your fans they do not have to play MP and they will not miss out on anything, then sneaking in an easter egg or anything else tied to MP is a little deceptive to me. Intentional, or not.

In the players guide it's discussed as one of the endings, not an Easter Egg. Now I know that guides can be wrong, but it does add ammunition to the the argument that it's not an Easter Egg, but an ending that's only achievable with MP.

I noticed that in the guide too. You know what I find so funny about the guide? In mine, it states on it several times that it was Bioware specifically went through it and approved it. It even has a sextion where the author thanks some folks at Bioware for helping them out with it. Man, that made me laugh.
@Sugaki Who is this QA and can you show a link? I want to write him and ask him/her just what they did. Especially since there aren't 12,000 total war assets in the game. They must have used space magic or mass effect fields.

A Bioware QA person said they got 6000 EMS with no multiplayer... but am very skeptical.
DId they explain how?
I'm a completionist and I found every war medal, every scrape of Matriach writing, saved Wrex and the Rachnai queen, etc in ME1, then imported that into ME2. In ME2 I had over 300,000 of each mineral (except Ezo, but over 100,00 of that) and had scanned every planet, had everyone alive, etc. I also had all the DLC for both games.
Imported that ME2 save into ME3 Collectors Ed, and have the players guide so I know I didn't miss anything in ME3. Cured the genophage, achieved peace between the Quarians and the Geth and still only managed to achieve 3,607 EMS before attaching the Cerberus base.
Sorry, I'm not attacking you, but I don't see how it's possible to achieve 6000 EMS with no multiplayer.
