Looks like this game is not tailored for people like you and me then.

And there I was thinking that Mass Effect was a single player franchise!

Still nothing official from Bioware about this?

I don't like multiplayer, and I don't have an iphone or ipad.

Bioware assured us that we could get the most optimal ending playing single player only.

Well I can't get the most optimal ending, which to me and many others is getting that 10 second Shep clipImage IPB

......I imported a character from ME1, ME2 and I have the CE version. I have scaned every single planet and have done all the side missions.
Nope, still nothing official from Bioware; it would seem they are tied up in the patch issues at the moment, though some folks have managed to get replies by email which indicate Bioware don't (yet) see this as an issue, so far stating that is should be possible to attain the 4,000 or 5,000 EMS required.
So they are listening thenImage IPB
Like you I have the Collector's Edition, have scanned the living daylights out of every corner of the visitable galaxy, followed every available quest, imported the same character from ME1 - ME2 - ME3, completed all the available DLC, and still don't quite get there; 3,600ish in my case.
Yeah I'm around the same mark 3650EMS
I don't mind MP being available but I don't want to play it - not my thing.  What I do really mind is the ending being in there and supposedly available without MP (according to various Bioware feedback at this time, and the official game guide, which spells out the exact point-breaks required to get different ending outcomes but clearly states every ending is attainable in a SP game), but which I cannot achieve, and which may be expanded upon in the summer "endings DLC".
Exactly how I feel.

Sigh I was hoping Thomas Abram would come good but the understandable urgency to fix the Xbox issues (seriously BW that's a fixed h/w platform, poor show) has nixed that for now. This is why I hate the idea of MP in my RPGs, a lot of post release patch money wil be spent on 'net code and balance rather than on the bits of the SP game that simply don't work or are bugged to jiggery. You can argue that there is no loss to SP development from having MP (and boy would I argue that with you) but the fixed pot of money for 'fixing something we've already been paid for' will not have been expanded sufficiently to cope with the demands of MP.

Honestly it would be better if they stopped making 'arguments from authority' where they basically say 'trust us we made it, sure no one else can do it but trust us'. It's like Fleischmann and Pons 'cold fusion' experiments at this stage where they keep telling us 'it does work, just try again'.

I hit around 3,300 on my playthrough I think.

It seems pretty clear that you guys are right on this, that 4000 isn't attainable let alone 5000.
But Bioware has so much high-priority work to tackle at the moment it's unfortunately a case of having to wait on this.

Hold the line (heh) and be patient on this, I guess.

I have to say, I'm extremely glad I'm playing on PC. I got to about 7500 TMS but won't play multiplayer so I just added 3500 to the Normandy's war asset…

Not that that exuses any of this, of course. I'm just glad I can at least hack my way around the BS -.-

The other thread on this was locked, which is unfortunate because it had a very well-written original post (no offense to this thread's op). Shows that they are at least reading our posts? I don't know, I'm kind of getting discouraged.

Just out of curiosity how many hours do you think you need to log to get a reasonable amount of EMS assuming you do everything possible in single player to attain the best ending? Just curious as I'm in the middle of my single player campaign right now and haven't slogged through the MP yet

I don't really think you need more than about 25 hours (first-time run), but you will need to have laid the foundation for it in ME and ME2. You're in a considerably worse place, overall, if you didn't make the optimal decisions in the earlier games.

Er, I realize you're asking about hours of multiplayer time. No idea, sorry, although of course the above applies in that the better you did in ME/ME2, the higher your TMS will be and the less GR you'll need…

The time required will vary depending upon your Total Military Score prior to the cutoff point in-game.  A three hour session may be sufficient to raise your Effective Military Score to the target value of 4000.

Alternatively, a few minutes with the Gibbed save editor can produce a similar result, and the effect will not diminish over time.

Can't believe the other thread was locked!  I think people were feeling that Bioware were ignoring this one so tried to highlight it with a really well written OP in a new thread.  The fact that Bioware have closed that with no comment other than use this one...  why?!

Are we only allowed one?  I am baffled that they can make that comment but not think to put peoples minds at rest by at least acknowledging here, on the thread that they have linked to, what is making us all so unhappy.  Odd and I am now even more frustrated with this situation.

Winning a bronze game takes about 20 minutes (rarely 30 minutes), it earns you about 3% readyness. Group your sessions to avoid the % decay, playing one hour every weekend will not help you as much as playing two games every day untill you hit the % you need.

Ah I see, great tips guys thanks!

As far as I know, I did practically everything in ME1/ME2, got the best paragon endings and also finished all the DLC missions ... so that gave me a bit of a boost ... So based on what you guys are suggesting I'll put in a couple of hours for a couple of days then ...

I'm still fairly early in the ME3 campaign (no thanks to Bioware and the face import issue) but I can still play MP anytime?

Maybe we need to be really concise in what we are saying so that Bioware and of course these random folks (who are obviously confused about TMS vs. EMS, Flat out lying, or have edited their save) get what we are talking about.

“Without having played MP/IOS/DataApp, “cheating”, or playing NG+ with fish and models, it is NOT possible on the first play-through to achieve 4000 EMS prior to assaulting TIMs’s base Period! ……and probably not the second play-through either

Now, if you can provide some “Tangible proof”, I’m certain we are willing to review it and eat crow, BUT if you cannot produce evidence, please don’t comment.

Someone Bioware, anyone pleaaasseee disprove my statement with proof.

Yes, up until a point near the end. After that the current EMS is the final value. You will be told that you've reached a point of no return though, so don't worry about missing it.

To be even clearer, let's add a glossary:
 • TMS: Total Military Score: your war assets score including your fleets, people, and so on.
 • GR: Galactic Readiness: a percentage describing…whatever. It can be increased by playing multiplayer or using the iOS app. It's 50% if you don't do MP/iOS.
 • EMS: Effective Military score, which is what's used in the ending: GR percentage of TMS. In other words, if you have 7000 TMS, and a Galactic Readiness of 50%, your EMS is 7000 * 0.5 = 3000.
 • 4000 EMS: Minimum required for all endings. If you have GR of 50%, you need to have 8000 TMS (8000 * 0.5 = 4000)
 • 8000 TMS: IMPOSSIBLE.

What changes if you get the highest possible EMS?
Your still left with your **** ending. I don't worry about it anymore. I got close to 7000 my first time, now ''Frankly my dear, I don't give a dam''. It's pointless when the best possible thing you can achieve is the current ending. So I just don't play the ending anymore.

Dismissing the fact that BioWare staff lied will not alter the fact that BioWare staff lied.

I was quite surprised too - just discovered the lock.

We can at least refer to the original posting on that locked thread as a great presentation of the issue I suppose.

Perhaps one thread makes it easier to review comments and numbers of people with the issue - more traffic here keeps it higher in the rankings?

No idea though, just hazarding a guess.  I have to say the rather abrupt "please use... LOCKDOWN", was rather jarring and a bit like a slap in the face with a cold kipper.

Sigh.

On a positive though, at least the postings were noticed!
