So the other thread was locked... There was some good info there though, written by
secretidentity, so let me just copy it here (in case someone else haven't done it 20 pages ago...):

Instead of relying on anectotal evidence I have simply datamined the games code to gather a complete list of every war asset within the game. The blanket totals without factoring in mutually exclusive assets and decisions are thus:

Alien: 1000
Alliance: 1881
Asari: 668
Crucible: 915
Ex-Cerberus: 260
Geth: 820
Krogan: 925
Quarian: 830
Salarian: 433
Turian: 638

TOTAL: 8370

Now before you say "well there you are then, over 8000. Nothing more to see here.", these numbers are too high, requiring such things as both Kaiden and Ashley to be alive and simultaneously rescuing the council and letting them die in ME1. There's also mutually exclusive events within ME3 itself, some  minor some not so minor. After studying the numbers I have found the optimized path for getting the absolute highest possible number of war assets even if it forces you to play like a shizophrenic looney. Here it is, the highest war assets score you can achieve.

Alien: 1000
Alliance: 1701
Asari: 668
Crucible: 815
Ex-Cerberus: 260
Geth: 815 OR 665
Krogan: 795
Quarian: 675 OR 825
Salarian: 338
Turian: 633

TOTAL: 7700

There are two values for the quarians and the geth because one of them has to take a 150 penalty, it doesn't matter which.

Without multiplayer you cannot get above 7700 war assets.

But don't just take my word for it. See for yourself, here's the war asset data ripped directly from the game:
http://pastebin.com/hRks27wB (warning, potential heavy spoilers).

which is precisely why Bioware is wrong and indirectly lying when saying it is possible -

@TempShark Yes, Thomas Abram has stated that it is possible to get 4000 EMS in single player alone, as has the official Twitter account. Neither of them has offered any idea of how to get it though.

They've said LOTS of things that have been patently untrue.  So what does that matter?

Yes, but this issue is very different. Day one DLC, comprehendible endings, choice , and closure are all really subjective topics. This is simple math, it’s either adds up or it doesn’t. There is no in-between or grey line here.

The best EMS I can get is only 3576 (repeatable). This is with an Mass2 import and everything done, scanned, being nice and so forth. 4K can not be reached doing solo play.

Does anyone have the Collectors Edition Strategy Guide? Does it give any details about Asset numbers and how to get the best ending without multiplayer, I'm just curious.

Jarret Lee should be able to answer the question of exactly how many War Assets there are in single player. Has he posted any other information elsewhere on the web? Better yet has ANY Bioware representative stated or confirmed on this or any other internet source how may War Assets there are in Single Player?

Yeah I have the Collectors guide and War Assests aren't even listed in the index!  certainly can't find a list of them or even any idea what you would get for each mission.

No, it doesn't. It tells you the points you need, not the points you really can get.

To be fair it says...

"The lowest readiness rating you can have is 50%. Fastest way to increase
the Readiness Rating is through Multiplayer. However, you should be
able to achieve high enough EMS even without multiplayer."

So it states that you can but doesn't tell you how - helpful - almost as helpful as my Collectors Guide which doesn;t seem to mention War Assests at all!    classic. lol

Maybe I am naive, but I am pretty sure that this was the mistake they did... when the game came to Q&A they were probably in a hurry therefore they just looked at the total amount of possible war assets, without thinking about mutually exclusive ones. so they said "8370 war assets? That's enough for SP! Let's move on."

For what its worth, I do believe Thomas Abrams. That being said, its more than likely our copies are bugged or a few War assets didn’t make it to our version.  If what your saying is true than Bioware wouldn’t be able to hit  TMS 8000 "before  the assault on the Cerberus Base” either.

Can I address a related issue? It is bad enough that BioWare has misrepresented the truth on this. It is worse that there is nothing in game or in the packaging that explains any relationship at all between multi-player, Galactic Readiness, and the number of available endings. The only way to even encounter BioWare's misrepresentation is to look online. How many players have no idea they had no access to all the endings, even after completing everything in single player, simply because they don't frequent places like this forum?

Some have compared multi-player with planet scanning as just something that has to be endured as part of the game. But you knew you had to scan planets, and you knew why. There was a logical connection between your activities and the in-game consequences.

I found a thread on multiplayer bugs

A dev answered on the first page to say they'll be fixing things show where the prioritisation is

Ugh, I really wish that they would fix this quickly. I already had to wait a month to play as my Shep and now I have to stop my playthrough because I don't have enough EMS to get the best ending, and I really suck at multiplayer so I hate playing it. Plus, they don't have Datapad for Android so I can't even raise it that way. FFFFFFFF

I hear what you’re saying and it makes since to a degree but lets just take all that out of the equation. Suppose I’m completion-ist and I want to get the perfect Total Military Strength count which is apparenlty 8000 without the help of all external resources to achieve this. How am I supposed to achieve this? The answer is …It can’t be done with the version of Mass Effect 3 I purchased. And let’s not forget the Day one DLC is supposed to be supplemental so those War Assets really shouldnt be counted.

The IGN wiki states

The default percentage is 50%; thus, you must play multiplayer/Mass Effect Infiltrator/Datapad to up your Effective Military Strength rating to get the "best" endings.

Data-mining of the game asset files suggests the former guide to be incorrect and the latter guide to be correct.

Here's the catch:

All endings require about 3500 EMS for Earth to be saves (regardless of "color choice"). The reason that most say that it isn't possible is because most people (myself included) like that Easter Egg cutscene from the red ending.

Frankly, I think Bioware was just trying to kill off Commander Shepard in the end, then decided to let those as truly fought over ALL theaters of the war (unfortunately, INCLUDING multiplayer/iOS apps) to have a really nice treat.

For those as (like me) can't play MP (for whatever reason) or the iOS apps (or simply don't want to), here's a tip:

Edit the coalesced.bin file and add 20 points to all base Military War Assets.  Doing this, I got a total of ~4500 EMS, without using all available assets even (Kaidan and Chakwas were on the Normandy).

Is coalesced.bin stored on an XBox 360 storage device and are you aware of a means of accessing modifying the file if it is?

If I am not wrong, the list of war assets that was provided in the locked tread and reported also at the top of this page was taken from a coalesced.bin so unless they own a beta version of the game which includes more war assets than the official release not even them cannot get 8000 TMS in SP.

I am not saying he is lying on us, also because maths are not an opinion, so it would be pointless to lye on us.. but from what I heard Thomas was on a hurry when answered to people questioning abiout war assets, so maybe also he's just forgeting something.. like some promoted MP character which boosted his TMS.

And if it was a bug too many people are affected by that bug then..

I couldn't do it, played both games and I think I have everything done in game. I play MP but it keeps dropping so by the time the DLC comes out my ending will change. Don't know how without MP you can get the best ending.

would also like to know if modding is possible on xbox 360 or is it banable

and just to add in I don't think Thomas is lying else he wouldn't have made the intial offer to look into it
