Here's the catch:

All endings require about 3500 EMS for Earth to be saves (regardless of "color choice"). The reason that most say that it isn't possible is because most people (myself included) like that Easter Egg cutscene from the red ending.

Frankly, I think Bioware was just trying to kill off Commander Shepard in the end, then decided to let those as truly fought over ALL theaters of the war (unfortunately, INCLUDING multiplayer/iOS apps) to have a really nice treat.

For those as (like me) can't play MP (for whatever reason) or the iOS apps (or simply don't want to), here's a tip:

Edit the coalesced.bin file and add 20 points to all base Military War Assets.  Doing this, I got a total of ~4500 EMS, without using all available assets even (Kaidan and Chakwas were on the Normandy).

:wizard:

Is coalesced.bin stored on an XBox 360 storage device and are you aware of a means of accessing modifying the file if it is?

would also like to know if modding is possible on xbox 360 or is it banable

and just to add in I don't think Thomas is lying else he wouldn't have made the intial offer to look into it

Modification of save games is possible through use of the Gibbed save editor and the Modio utility.  Such action is a violation of the terms of use of XBox live, but detection and enforcement is likely difficult.

I would never risk my gamer tag by modifying. Fortunately, there is datapad until this is sorted.
OT: I would pay for a prologue/trial genesis type dlc with all the decisions in it that gibbed editors use on a pc.

in the endings guide it says that you can

No, it doesn't. It tells you the points you need, not the points you really can get.

To be fair it says...

"The lowest readiness rating you can have is 50%. Fastest way to increase
the Readiness Rating is through Multiplayer. However, you should be
able to achieve high enough EMS even without multiplayer."

So it states that you can but doesn't tell you how - helpful - almost as helpful as my Collectors Guide which doesn;t seem to mention War Assests at all!    classic. lol

Yeah, but when someone says "should be" that means he doesn't really know.

I did a completionist run as well.  Saved game from ME1 and ME2 as well.  Could not get above 4000.

So Mr Abrams just locked a similar thread over in the spoiler forums, stating that it is possible to get 4000 EMS in SP.

Any one popped up with any proof of this? cause I'm b*ggered if I can see how.

I played all 3, used imports, scanned everything that was to be had, saved all of my crew and squad, bought enough fish to fill a 1000 gallon aquarium, bought /found all of the spacecrafts ... to NO avail.

Maybe I lost points for having my FemShep walk in the "Mens" washrooms, and seeing a Turian take a leak (or was it a Batarian ? )

There's no proof of it because it isn't possible.

I tried pm'ing Mr. Abrams about this and the response was the same as always. He says he himself was able to accomplish it, of which all I have is his word. That they have seen reports of many people acomplishing it, of which I have seen none. And that an investigation on this won't happen for a while. I guess all we can do is complain and holler for an indeterminate amount of time. How nice.

People complaining about this have provided irrefutable proof. The other side hasn't been able to provide one tiny shred of evidence.

Yeh I just got a pm back from Mr Abrams saying he managed it. A little proof from bioware would be nice, post a guide on how to get 4000+ EMS without IOS game or MP and stick some spoiler warnings on it.

It would do a lot to diffuse this whole issue.

Its is true you can get 4000 EMS in SP...the question is can you get it before you launch your attack on the cerberus base during your first play-through without any external resources such as MP/IOS/ or Data App. Guy please make sure you ask the question properly to avoid confusion.

Perhaps Mr. Abrams modified his coalesced.bin file.

No you can't, I'm a completionist so I know you can't unless you play multiplayer.

Actually, any modding that you do in a game offline is completely legal according to the DMCA.  Modding online is a bannable offense.

So when is Bioware going to respond to this thread. It's very annoying that Bioware is flat out saying anything about the the issues in their game.

you can't edit files like coalesced.bin on a normal xbox 360, only savegame editing like with gibbed

you can raise the values of assets using gibbed, like make the Normady worth 10000 or something ridiculous if you want. unlike coalesced editing, you can do this after obtaining the asset

Yeah, I saw that  so I came here to see if what he said is true, but I don't see any evidence of it. And if you're on the PS3 you don't even have some points carry over from ME1 since we could never play ME1. Plus, I don't think we can mess with the save file either, so we're out of luck.

I can't believe the arrogance of BW to lock threads about this issue and sweep the whole thing aside as if it was solved, when it isn't.

I'm currently sitting at 6000. Not sure how much is tied up in galaxy map but mp promotions are at a little above 100

For crying out loud, they are the people who made the game! Shouldn't they have some kind of list or something with all the assets you can collect in SP to show how many points they give you? Not this "I played it and could do it" and "I've seen people say they could do it" BS!

I have a theory as to why this is the case, though I'm sure I will get blasted for it.

Why can't you get the best ending via singleplayer you ask? Same reason you're expected to download the "real ending" in the coming months is why.

I like how Bioware is avoiding this issue or pretending it's some sort of bug. Seems kind of similar to the "artistic integrity" thing. Sadly they aren't even trying to convinvce us that "technically" if you have an EMS of 3000 or something you can already get one of the "best" endings. You just simply cannot get the "Easter Egg" ending. Oh well I suppose those of us who generally play offline have no right to such things anyways because we won't be buying all their extra multiplayer content in future. Us primitives who don't have an internet connection to our console all the time should just go wander into some tar pit I guess.

Still don't know what possessed them to do this. Really you'd think the idea of potential lawsuits and or poor sales might be a good reason to simply make sure you release a complete game. Or at least retract previous statements made before launch? Oh well now everyone will say I'm crazy even though in May or June you'll see for yourself. Also if they haven't addressed it at this point why would you even think that they ever will? Come on guys.

This has gone far beyond the ridiculous. You CAN NOT get more than 4000 EMS on single player only (50% galactic readiness) unless you alter your War Assets (save editor or hack the coalesced.bin file). There ARE NOT ENOUGH WAR ASSETS.

Either Bioware is flat out lying or they are so incompetant, they don't even know what's in their own damn game. Pick one.

Exactly.

In a similar thread somebody suggested that they should just raise the galactic readiness to 60%. That would solve this issue, and I can't imagine that it would be that difficult. Why set it at 50% anyway?

Yeah, we've been telling them for weeks now. This is Bioware actively trying to lose as much trust from their fans and customers as possible, for reasons only known to them. Pathetic.

That is, pathetic only if they are trying to do anything else than giving us the finger. If that's actually what they want though I applaud them, for they couldn't be doing a much better job.

First, when challenging Bioware on this point, state the question in such a way as they cannot play games with interpretation. Do *not* ask if you can get 4,000 EMS because you do not know if Bioware is considering multiplayer and iOS games in the same way when they answer that question.

The concrete question to ask is: What is the maximum Total Military Strength that one can acquire via optimal play (remember - TMS is the raw total of your war assets, EMS is your TMS * GR).

According to posts such as this - http://www.gamefaqs....fect-3/62357390 - the best anyone has been able to demonstrate for TMS is 7,515. This means that unless one modifies one's GR via multiplayer or iOS games, one cannot reach the 4,000 EMS mark.
