Not add fuel to the conspiracy, but I am sure child's play gets considerable support from EA, and potentially lower cost game prices/donations.

I'm not saying it was done maliciously. But you don't bite a hand that feeds you, after all. Child's play can't afford to be making enemies when it relies on the gaming community.

Very, very true. EA's donations > A movement's donations.

It's a smart move, if you look at it.

Except it's suspicious.

I don't see how it would be financially worth it from EA's perspective to buy the charity off rather than develop the ending DLC, especially since said DLC will probably be sold at a profit.

They didn't buy off the charity, The have been donating to Child's Play for YEARS and provididng them games. So your logic is seriously flawed.

Child's Play is funded and run by gaming companies that donate games and money for the children. All big companies are a part of Child's Play, and have been since pretty much the beginning.

I disagree, it just depends how you define "buying off".

It could be a lump sum.

Or it could be "Please stop their charity drive for our continued mutual interest."

Either way, if it wasn't a buy off (I'm not actually one of the tin-foil hat people here thinking EA did anything) then I don't see how they would've stopped it.

EA never would have done it for the simple reason that if Child's Play said 'no and we're going plublic'  EA would be in the Deep Brown.  I seriously doubt the guys at PA are the type who would tak to being bullied into submission (even if it is with a massive donation) from a massive corporation

Again, don't misunderstand my post, it was simply disputing the post I quoted with that argument.

In short, I don't think EA has **** to do with it. My argument was though that if they were doing it purely because EA were a benefactor then they'd only do it if pressured (as a counter-argument to the post I quoted).

It's a great cause with or without a mass effect 3 charity drive.

I also would like to speak highly of sixty-five roses. I've been supporting them since I learned about them back in high school.

I sincerely hope this isn't true. If it is, Bioware should be ashamed. This is one of the few things that really *would* make me swear off Bioware forever.

So, let's pick a new charity?

i like this idea

Signed...

BTW... seeing that news before the charity capped out. Galavanised me to get off my ass and donate more that I had originally planned.

Child's play got every penny that I had originally budgeted for any computer game purchase, in the next 8 to 12 months (maybe six if I skip movies novels and dinner out at well) and THREE times as much as I allready spent on a Mass Effect CE and 10 spectre Packs in MP.

I'm commited now. even if they offer something I WANT to buy. I can't (without missing prometheus) for at least 8 months.

No Charity wants to be linked to anything that would be considered a controversy. I for one am kind of happy, it was nice at beginning but this is just getting kinda uglier as time goes on so I think it's for the best.

The situation with Planned Parenthood and Susan B. Koman suggests this isn't always true.

Dude there is no "controversy" in this.

We are talking about video game fiction. Someone is honestly suggesting that Child's Play doesn't want people to support sick children because they disagree with someone's opinion on ****ing video game endings?

This is just disgusting.

Okay that does it. EA has decided to go after a charity just to get at us. This should now be total war. Do everything you can to sink EA. Spread the word about what they did here and make sure you never touch another one of their product . Our ultimate goal should be bankrupt EA now. How dare they. EA is a monster that needs to be taken down. Just to score some PR points they would do this, spread the word make sure everyone knows the truth about what EA did here. No matter what EA never gets another cent of my money.

Look regardless of your opinion of bioware/EA, they are not that stupid there is no way in hell they would ever go that far and thats saying something

Let me see if I can put this a diffferrentt way without offending the majority of people here. Bioware and it's management is scared. They are angry. What they thought was going to be the best received game of all time hasn't done it. Sales are down, negative pressure is up from the top down. I am not saying that they shut down the charity to deny us an ally, but scared and frightened people do irrational things. Somthing could have been said through back channels.

What I am saying is that it should be looked at, notshouted from the clifftops. If they did it, then they massively screwed up and it gives us more leverage, If they didn't, no skin off our nose, but at least we considered the possibility. It's simply convenient that Child's Play cut it off, whether planned or nopt. I never once heard anything  about reaching some arbitrary limit here. I never believe in concidences, and that is what I am saying.

No skin of your nose maybe, but accusations always stick no matter if innocence is proven. It's this kind of crap that makes the truth irrelevant because people who think what they want to.
So, then you believe the people who openly attack the charity near every day on the forums, and the people who mock the whole ME3 community who aren't even a part of it aren't suspects? Please, don't go into law.

As I said before, check out all leads, but that doesn't automatically prove guilt or innoccence for anyone. I stated that a coincidence occurred. Could it have been from hate mail sent out by people on this or other places? Of course, but in investigation you seek every possible lead, not the ones  that seem most appealing or fit a preconceived notion. The question always has to be asked 'Who has the most to gain?' along with 'Was there a motive?'. They go hand in hand. The two points aren't mutually exclusive after all.

Accusations always stick regardless of proven innocence.

Not always, but you have your opinion and that's fine. Personally, I'll go toddle off now and watch another rerun of Conspiracy Theory followed by a healthy dose of Ancient Aliens just to reinforce my paranoia :)

Checking out the organization now. Thanks for this! :wizard: Hopefully more people will join in, and something good will come out of this mess of a thread.
