They say they requested that we stop donating to them as a group as they have received so much hate mail which is quite frankly astounding. Who sends hate mail to charity?

Everyone relax, EA/Bioware had nothing to do with this and accusing them of it makes no sense and will not help our cause. This is a polarizing topic and it makes sense that a charity wouldn't want to be associated with a specific side. This will not in any way change the fact that we raised 80,000 dollars for kids, let's focus on how awesome that is.

The drive was set at an $80,000 goal. That goal was reached, so the drive completed and the page was closed. No conspiracy.

Yeah it's funny how BioWare never mentions the hate and threats from ending supporters.

There is absolutely no evidence to support that EA or Bioware had anything to do with this. Throwing around baseless accusations like that is disgusting. That's not holding the line, it's crossing it.

Actually, by suggesting the possibility, it makes certain that EA and Bioware know that we are paying attention. I also noted in the message how it was pointed out that no one believed Penny Arcade was behind it either. Thus we have all fallen into a catch 22. Child's Play shut it down for some reason, be it outisde pressure, internal pressure or simply because they wanted nothing more to do with such eager donors. Logically, there must be some sort of conclusion drawn. It doesn't mean that anything sinister happened,  but we do need to keep an eye on these people (Ea/Bioware/Other outlets like Penny Arcade) very closely.

Suggesting it is scandlalous and unethical and paints us as paranoid and reactionary.

If by 'us' you mean 'me', that's perfectly fine since I can take abuse quite well, especially since I am not affiliated with any retake organization. It is worth investigating and watching. If David Frost hadn't dared to investigate Richard Nixon, things would have turned out quite different then too. It needs to be looked at, examined, verified to see if it's true, but there's nothing wrong with suggesting the possibility. They wouldn't be the first or last company to do such a thing.

This is bordering on hysteria. Some of you need to seriously get a grip on yourselves. There is zero evidence to support that BIoware or EA did anything wrong here.

Stop reading headlines and focus on what I asked please, I am talking about seeing if it is true, thanks

Its only what I heard thread is to get the truth not spread rumor.

IF the thread was to get the truth then the title would be more neutral.  What it is now is a very nice and inflammitory title.  One that implies that EA or Bioware shutdown the drive.  Might not be the intent, but it's how it reads.

It's called a false dichotomy.

Hey Doctor Ray!  Maybe next time you ask for us not to provide "negative criticism," maybe you can ask your SUPPORTERS not to send hate mail to charity?

I don't even have words.

In the thread on the subject, the OP said that he put a cap on it at the request of Child's Play because people thought that the organization was openly supporting the Retake Mass Effect movement:

Disgusting people, that's who. Nothing in this whole saga of fail has made me feel angry until the notion of sending hate mail to a charity that benefits kids over the end of a game. And they say we're uncivil.

A charity stopped taking donations... Becuase of outside pressure is what was stated... So I guess it was from the US someone other than someone with an interest.

I do not think it's a gaming company but I do think it's the people who think Bioware can do no wrong and must be coddled from all the bad bad mean people like a bloody infant new to the world, pressure from Bioware/EA makes no sense and would literally put them into Saturday Morning Villain category.

Harassment from people who by the day become more hateful and venomous as less and less people agree with them and their arguments continue to be debunked or they themselves chase people away who support their position via snobbishness or hyperbole however, now that's way more likely. The Bioware loving crusaders seem to think they can do no wrong no matter how vicious, condescending, and downright abusive they get simply because they're ignored and we're focused on - for better or worse - and constantly have to be picky and politically correct as to not completely shaft the movement.

I'm resigning from Retake, but I still support it, I just can't see myself remaining calm under the constant conga line of 'you're all retards, quit abusing Bioware, SHUT UP!'

@locsphere

It's inflammatory, libelous and paints us all as paranoid, This kind of reckless and irresponsible behavior drains our legitemacy and kills good will and could get people banned. If were outside the movement and I read this I would think we were a bunch of ****s.

Wow. They have no more control over their supporters than your group does of the people threatening to kill them and telling them they should all be jobless. Please.

Constantly suggesting that bioware and EA had something to do with this really doesn't help the Retake movements image. Its disgusting that they stopped receiving donations but its understandable why, the issue lies with the immature disgusting "people" who would send hate mail to a charity simply because they didn't like a movement about a VIDEO GAME.

Seriously, people not liking our standing on a VIDEO GAME had to flame a charity for SICK CHILDREN? And they say we are the immature whiners....

I think baseless accusations like this is why people hate people that wanted a new ending.

I think they need to lock and close this thread cause its insulting to all parties.

It has angered me also. No doubt we will be labelled the bad guys again though. Media will probably see this as us not donating any more as Bioware said they are going to do 'something' about the ending.

No Charity wants to be linked to anything that would be considered a controversy. I for one am kind of happy, it was nice at beginning but this is just getting kinda uglier as time goes on so I think it's for the best.

That's why its a Public Relations situation.  They need to make us look like the only one's who are capable of hating and causing disruption.  Yet the so called Ending Supporters which are a true vocal minority managed to take money away from a charity for a good cause over an ending ... go figure.
