I'm currently on my third playthrough of ME3 using characters imported from ME1 into ME2, then into ME3. For this character, I romanced Ashley in ME1. In ME2, I did not romance anyone--I stayed faithful. Thus far, ME3 has reflected this and I haven't run into any problems. However, I did come upon a rather odd situation. I was talking to Matriarch Aethyta, when she suddenly mentions Liara having "shady connections"... which include a "boyfriend who used to work for Cerberus." And then during the same conversation, Shepard says that no one "messes with his girl." Seeing as I never romanced Liara or even attempted to with this character, it was very strange.

I'm wondering now if this will cause problems later on with Ashley. Does the game now assume that I somehow cheated on Ashley with Liara, even though I didn't? Or is this just an odd glitch that I needn't worry about?

Has anyone else ever encountered this?

Unfortunately, no one that has posted there so far has said if it caused further problems later in the game.
