So this is why so many people play soldier, they're the most overpowered class in SP.

And one of the worst in MP :whistle:

Vanguards can do the same thing at a lil bit less damage with the benefit of setting up their own BE's.

Yup, this is exactly how I play, and due to the slowdown effect of Adrenaline Rush, they do roughly the same damage. Plus they have pull to set up explosions, and the ever awesome Charge-Nova Combo. With the Energy Drain bonus power, you become an almighty biotic-tech-combat god.

Don't even need Energy drain. I use Dark Channel+ Charge. Already destroys shields then the Revvy mops up the health. I don't like using Nova.


Stupid question, am I the only one that notices that the Burst doesn't seem too effective on shields?

I don't have From Ashes unfortunately, but energy drain is alright, especially if you can get tech bursts going. Oh, and the explosive bursts flat out don't affect shields and barriers (hence, the use of Energy Drain).

Don't get me wrong, the GPR is REALLY good too (so are a few other fast firing weapons).  I think the thing you might be doing wrong is trying to get the particle rifle charged up on normal enemies.  Your explosions will do more than enough for them.  You just need to get it charged up on the big guys.  The particle rifle only drains really fast when fully charged up.  On "low power mode" it can fire for days.  Just release the trigger between targets when killing cannon fodder.  Then when a brute charges you just hold the trigger down and watch him melt.


Ok...yeah I get it now....Particle Rifle is gamebreaking indeed.  I chilled out on the trigger in between normal enemies....now it's roasting everything without burning up the clip. 

It's too good when you use it right.  I see now why people are saying it makes the game boring..lol.

I'm not really seeing the wow factor you're pushing. That mission looked nigh identical to the way it happened when I went through there with a revenant similarly equipped.

Same build but Revenant with Marksman (specced for fire rate) murders stuff even faster than the GPR! imo GPR is balls because of the retarded sine curve rate of fire and the tiny amount of damage. Tried it once on hardcore and it was so hard to kill anything.

Updated the OP with some Hornet footage. The Hornet is actually really, really good for aggressive players, because unlike the GPR the base dps is incredibly high and the weapon itself is very light even without UL materials. Hornet + Carnifex = ultimate CQC soldier.
