Guys i recomend doing what i advised this guy to do. Like i told him its not gonna give 30 fps as this game has problems ranging from hard resets, killing of hdd, massive freezes and all round game bugs.

Starscream, my issue was not primarily with frame rate drop. Although the frame rate was definitely an issue, the game was still playable. My issue was that the game completely FROZE multiple times in multiple places for no apparent reason. The last freeze killed my physical hard drive.

Yeah i know beleive u me ive gone through 10 hard resets myself. This game us messed up and im being generous when i say that. Im just through that out there as it has helped my friends with fps as well as decrease the hard resets. It does not stop them by a long shot but i just pray you guys are gonna get a better experience. All im saying is that playing this game whether you do as i advise is a massive gamble to your console. I just wanted to beat the game, i refuse to play this game and have not concidered touching it again until those problems are addresses. But if your gonna risk playing the game you minus well do as i advised to better your chances of a better playing experience. Like i said before its a risk.

Interesting that with all the <BIOWARE> action on this forum recently there has still been no confirmation that they are aware of this issue. I mean they did say that they were aware of the FPS issue, but still no word on this and in my opinion since this one will lead to dead systems they definitely should.

i have noticed the freezing too its not a hard drive capacity issue. i have a 600gb with 400gb free what i have found is it runs hotter than normal that being said try putting your ps3 on some shot glasses. to raise it up one at each corner and run a small fan to blow air above and below it, mine has run flawless since that btw i have a slim ps.
fyi lyod is caused from over heating too bad soldered on the cpu and gpu at least for the fat 60gb

A tip from playing skyrim, when frozen ALWAYS EJECT THE DISC FIRST, the ps3 should restart on its own. If not then press the button. Shutting off the power should really be a desperate measure.

When MP froze up on me, the eject and front panel power buttons became entirely non-functional. Couldn't eject the disc, couldn't power down from the front panel button, had to unplug the power cord (I'm on a 160GB slim, so I don't have the rocker switch on the back that the old models had).

Lost my settings/progress file, which means all the single player bonus powers I had unlocked (which was all of them) were reset to locked, so I have to play through again to unlock them all.

Fortunately for me, I had already achieved my Platinum trophy before this happened.

My PS3 is less than a year old and it was freezing bad at first on MP. At least 2-3 times a day. I have not had that issue for a week though. Now I just keep getting disconnected from their server at the end of matches and the usual store purchases not showing. I guess Sony is to blame for your server side issues too though right? lol

I should make a video to show the lag - it's terrible and that it just at the start. No wonder it froze.

I'm not having problems with framerate. However, my PS3 has NEVER made this much noise trying to run a game. The poor thing is chugging and huffing and puffing like it's straining as hard as it can to run ME3, in addition to some freezing.

I'm not having framerate issues, either.

I agree that the noise thing is troubling, though. The BluRay drive is seeking CONSTANTLY.

And then there's the freezing: Black Screen of Death in the Citadel elevator (this is very consistent for me during Act 1. Seems to clear up after completing the Cerberus On The Citadel mission) ... random lockups in MP that cause my profile/settings file to become corrupted (has happened twice now) ... and just a few minutes ago, single player froze on me for the first time (in the Tuchanka Bomb mission, right at the beginning, during the artillery bombardment ... shot a Cerberus trooper in the head with my Tempest, and ... FREEZE, hard boot (the core dump (or whatever's in that file that's generated by a botched shutdown) has been uploaded to Sony)).

And yet another freeze, this time on a new character (not imported from ME2) with which I'm trying to re-unlock Kaidan's bonus powers (since a freeze in multiplayer corrupted my settings/progress file a couple of days ago).

Just completed Grissom Acadamy, went to meet the delegates at Annos Basin. Locked up in the cutscene where Traynor tells me the delegates are ready to board.

Core dump sent to Sony, now undergoing HDD scan ... for the umpteenth time ...

Couldn't wait any longer. Played perfectly for a day and then froze on me again in single player. Now the system will not recognize the HDD no matter what I do. Even tried booting into safe mode and restoring the file system again. Guess a dead PS3 is what I get for not taking my own advice and waiting for a patch like I should have...

If anyone else runs into their HDD not being recognized at all. Try re-seating it in the cradle. I hadn't tried this, but after being advised to do so by a Sony rep my PS3 is now in the process of restoring the file system.

Aoshi, that's actually good to know.

I got my new HDD and tried to pick up with the only save I had backed up (8hrs in). First 5 minutes the game freezes (on the elevator).

I contacted Bioware tech support about a week ago and the rep on the phone had the nerve to tell me this was the first time he heard about any PS3 issues for ME3. I felt like that was a pretty dishonest thing to say and an insult to my intelligence.

I have basically given up on singleplayer for the time being, and have been working on multiplayer. In the past 2 days I have begun getting freezes on multiplayer too (3 in total.)

I am currently trying to get Bioware/EA to give me a digital download version of the game on the PC so I can actually play a working version.

Had this problem on my PS3. Also, sick of the occasional multiplayer match where the fps drops each round to the point where you can't even move and have to drop out, lose all credits and reset your PS3.
I love mass Effect, and respect Bioware, but I honestly can't believe they had the nerve to release this game the way it is now.

The game did not kill your console. Your console killed itself.

People need to stop making this accusation, it's hilarious really

Game just froze again today!!!

This game is fun so it's hard to stop playing it but now I have no choice because I know this game is going to ruin my HDD. That's 3 freezes/hard resets now; the most I've had with any game on my console. When are they going to fix this!

I agree. The 60GB console is pushing 6 years now. The fact that you still have it is great though I'm on my fifth PS3. Only one of them died (40GB) two were stolen (60GB and 320GB) and I sold one because the hard drive got full (80GB). You can always buy a 320GB console put the hard drive in your old one play it til it dies then put it back in your new one. But seeing how this topic is a month old you may have replaced it by now.

I agree

What does how old the console is even have to do with anything? It's not a HDD memory problem and it should work just fine.

Amount of hard resets required for this game does have a good chance of messing up few file systems around the world ... Just saying. I dare say it has done "better" then New Vegas, which up untill now was a pinacle of bugginess. Well done. (Just imagine how buggy it could be if it was the size of New Vegas!)

ME3 killed my PS3 isn't exact term I would use, ME3 F'ed up file system on my PS3's hdd is completely valid though ...

Just had to reboot my PS3 again. Wave 5 an MP match and I have to leave half way through.
It's disgusting that this issue is not being addressed. This happens 1 out of every 4 matches.

guys do you encounter freezing of the PS3 not just in game but from starting the game as well? The bioware EA start-up logo was beginning to load & then it stop/freeze. The HDD indicator orange light of the PS3 slim continuously (not flashing, blinking) but always on. I was worried that my PS3 was broke, or the data (saved games & downloaded games/dlc) was corrupted. Hard reset wont work. Have to unplug the power cord. AS I turn it on, same thing happen this time loading of the PS3 logo freeze with the orange light always ON. Perhaps I did it three times (unplug the power cord & then turn on the Ps3) before finally it was okay.

Have not played a game yet on my PS3, worried it might be broken for good.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me after about 10 hard resets. Did you get the other warning signs as well (crazy long loading times in XMB, system not recognizing controller on start-up unless it was plugged in etc.)?

I thought it was the HDD, so I spent 2 days doing a full back up/format. The system worked fine for a few days, until I started playing me3 multiplayer again and now it's the same **** all over again...
